Hard to believe that offering mainly gas-guzzling old tech vehicles at insanely high prices – and marketing them with a strong jingoistic vibe – isn’t a recipe for success. And hoping that the other pricey/quirky brands — Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, brands with poor reputations for quality – will appeal to

This, to me, is the high-water mark of BMW style and when they were new and I was 15 it was the car I doodled in the margins of my notebooks and wished my dad would buy. But this one — that list of “little things” seems awfully long, and the means that they’re not really little things or that they’re too expensive to

It’s funny, I’m old enough (mid 50s) to remember when the idea of driving across the country meant visiting the local AAA office for maps and giving considerations to things like “You won’t find a Porsche dealer in Kansas to fix your 928 if it breaks down”; today you can jump into virtually any car that’s 10 years old

I followed that link and read the article. Absolute excellence. Thanks for posting it.

The Maxima 4DSC was my first thought, too. It was about perfect — a great balance of style, performance, affordability, reliability, etc. Now the entry into sport sedan territory seems to be $55K or more to get into an Audi or BMW, and neither of those brands are terribly smart financial moves for the average Dad

GM and Hyundai working together sounds like a Win-Win to me -- Hyundai has tremendous experience in EVs and GM has the North American market and production capacity. As long as the South Koreans convince GM that CarPlay is a must have going forward...

I was ready to go all in despite the unfitting blue color, but then the 190K miles scared me. At 140K I would have said yes to a solid GM truck, but nearly 200K means I’d likely be the last owner holding the title and unable to sell it to the next guy.

That dad is a man of class, and I can’t begin to fathom the pain he and his family must now carry.

Good for her. Can any of us imagine Ted Cruz doing something like this? (assuming he even had the compassion for others or the skill to do it).

I’ve done it a couple of times in a variety of cars:

The 14 year old me would still be excited to watch either of those shows.

I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I just don’t see it with this car. I applaud the effort and confidence, but it just looks -- in photos, at least -- like a big sausage. Now the Sollei, on the other hand, wears the look MUCH better.

That’s pretty much Dodge’s target audience.

Fun little story about this car: Back in 1984 we were on a family vacation to Hawaii. We were staying in the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu; we had a balcony suite about 10 floors up overlooking the pool. On our second day there we woke up to see a roughly 10 foot by 18 foot windowless tiki hut floating  in the

Well, sure. These have been out for almost 5 model years now, so there’s one for every budget and buyer at this point. C7s aren’t being made anymore. C8 buyers have lots of options, anxious C7 buyers are in the “waiting for the boomer owners to die” phase.

Add me to the list of people that always just thought “Hoonigan” was a sticker that morons put on their cars to self-identify.

Impressive miles for sure, but the interior is so nasty looking I’d be hesitant to sit in there with anything less than a OSHA-approved biohazard suit. Donate the car to the FBI crime lab training center and let them tell the stories that this car is hiding.

The Trump/GOP ideas get scarier every day. Just wait until they start eying all our retirement accounts. Don’t worry, it won't be long.

This is a tough one. A good paint correction detail could probably get that black exterior looking pretty good, but you’d still be looking at that those really distressed seats and interior all the time. The Viggen package is cool, but it’s still a car with less HP than just about everything on the road these days.

I had to look that up. I found these stats; in a nutshell it looks like about 77K Achievas were made in 1992, and (I didn’t bother adding them up) it looks like over the 6 year run somewhere in the neighborhood of 500K were built. Also, Oldsmobile overall was cranking out about 450K cars a year in that era.
