First gear — Towing someone’s car like that seems like serious overreach. I mean, you can’t compel a human witness to testify even if they were right there at the scene, so taking someone’s car seems like a huge violation. I mean, sure — ask the owner for the footage, and get a warrant if needed, but people also have

They were pretty sharp and distinctive for their time -- I fully admit that I liked them, thought they didn’t have any noteworthy performance to back up the looks.

Every Audi SUV looks the same to me. And as for their cars, you could park an A4 in front of me and I probably couldn’t tell you if it was 12 years old or brand new. they used to be such iconic cars back around 2000; now they’re just unremarkable in every way.

These Bullet edition cars always struck me as a half-hearted attempt to corral a few Boomer purchasers, and they just don’t seem all that special to me. Not worth the premium, and not the generation of Mustang I’d seek out if I really wanted a pony car. ND.

I think the point everyone is missing is that this is all a “cool dad vs. angry neighbors” until some kid gets killed or paralyzed in a cart-wreck and then the city, county and state are on the receiving end of huge lawsuits for letting an unsanctioned race track exist. That’s why things like this need permits.

Well, it’s been on CL for 22 days, so I bet you could get it for at least a grand or two under the asking price. But then you have to ask yourself, “Do I really want to do this? Should I stop at a thrift shop for some polyester pants? Are my old Neil Diamond LPs in the attic? Does owning this commit me to going to my

The prices might not be down to $20K just yet, but a Ford Maverick is roomy, the right height and the hybrid gets great MPG. And I think they’re going to prove to be just as reliable as almost anything else out there.

Well, I can just say I’m sure I’d enjoy a beer with anyone that’s taken the time to post a reply here -- I think we’ve got the assholes tagged. Although I don’t see the hate for Subaru drivers -- they’re OK by me.

Disappointed in you, Ford. You had the choice between helping people or hurting people, and you choice to hurt. You had the chance to stand up to hate or agree with it, and you agreed with it. You had the chance to take away these bigots power by simply ignoring them, but you chose to give them credibility.

Tough call for me, too, but I’m going to say NP. This is a rare bird so if it’s the configuration you want, get it while you can. Presumably anyone in the market for just this combo is going to be fairly handy with a wrench so another 100K miles or so seems like a pretty sure thing.

Well, I for one have never heard of this one. Only been driving for 35 years so you’d think I’d know about it....

I just bought a base 2024 Sport as what I suspect will be a last fling with the availability of a simple, analog, 6-speed manual fun car.  The damn little thing is more fun to drive than anything I’ve ever owned before. I don’t need or want anything faster, more luxurious or flashier. I’ll likely keep this little gem

So I just looked up the specs on this thing. Should do about 30mpg on the highway and it has a 23.8 gallon tank — so that’s about 700 miles between fillips. And this “beast” weighs in at just 3836 lbs. A 2024 911 Turbo is just a few pounds behind at 3646. Crazy.

In regards to animals, I think you need to program the car to stay on the road at all costs. Presumably a self-driving car will know how much room it needs to stop and also how far back the car behind it is driving. At that point it can try coming to a safe stop, but if it can’t the animal is going to have to take it.

The biggest thing with finding a reliable used car is honesty — with yourself. You have to realize that you’re looking for something that’s dependable, NOT something that’s cool, fun, rare, or a platform for your inner Fast-n-Furious child. For $5-8000 there’s a world full of Corollas, Accords, Ford Fusions, later

I was going to say the same thing. For the right person — say someone that works in one town and drives 300 home to another every weekend -- something like this would be an effortless, comfy highway cruiser that you could drive for years without wearing out or depreciating your daily driver. And even cockroaches would

Even if the motor is a gem, the rest of the car is going to slowly and steadily fall apart around you. This was the era of so-much-plastic-everywhere in VW/Audis. There’s a reason you never see VAG product of this time on the road anymore.

Just joined that FB group. It’s awesome.

Agreed; I feel like people that associate THAT MUCH of their being/personality/identity in some overdone car are pretty shallow, uninteresting individuals. They tend to be judgmental and snooty about whatever car YOU own, and if you DO try to engage them – even to compliment their car -- they give you this vibe like

I could hear and feel that car flex when I clicked “ND” with my mouse. No freaking way.
