So I just looked up the specs on this thing. Should do about 30mpg on the highway and it has a 23.8 gallon tank — so that’s about 700 miles between fillips. And this “beast” weighs in at just 3836 lbs. A 2024 911 Turbo is just a few pounds behind at 3646. Crazy.

In regards to animals, I think you need to program the car to stay on the road at all costs. Presumably a self-driving car will know how much room it needs to stop and also how far back the car behind it is driving. Even if the motor is a gem, the rest of the car is going to slowly and steadily fall apart around you. This was the era of so-much-plastic-everywhere in VW/Audis. There’s a reason you never see VAG product of this time on the road anymore.

Everything appears to be there, but everything appears to need to be replaced, too. The seats, the carpet, the wood dash, the interior trim, the rusty seat belt latches, etc. I bet even the toggle switches are corroded. And this is the easy stuff you can see... I can only imagine the mechanical horrors you’ll run into…

Logged in to say this myself. If you’re stupid enough to make your car harder to see when braking, you probably shouldn’t be driving.

That silver/chrome plastic that was used just about everywhere hasn’t aged well. I think it’s the one element that really dates these cars.

I’m 54 and I too nearly had a heart attack seeing this car and price. I don’t think it’s worth $1,695, let alone $16,950.
