This is the beginning of the huge smokescreen under which he will resign for “health reasons”. And by “resign” I mean “chicken out so as not to be impeached”.

As someone who grew up in construction and became an engineer, I think every engineer should have to spend a bit of time in the field seeing their design being built. Knowing how it goes together saves a lot of headaches for everyone involved.

Without wear indicators, you could just pull a wheel off and have a look. 

I don’t think you’ll see an answer on this. “We turned to Engineering Explained for our answer” means “we found this EE video and wrote a paragraph intro/summary about his content”.

Buy pads with wear indicators, change them when they start making noise.
