Yeah I dont know enough about the 4l60/4l80 trans to comment on how much they can be built. I bought a 4l60 that claimed it was good for 500hp and put it behind a stock LQ4. Guess we will see in 100k miles.
As someone with a LS swapped FJ80 and someone who has owned a 100 series, I can tell you the LS is a better motor in terms of performance and a tie in terms of durability. Agree though that putting super charged stuff in these drivetrains is asking for something to break downstream.
Simple fix - just get some drum brakes. David, kinda surprised you haven’t gotten them a rusty heap with some drums.
Have these on my LS swapped Land Cruiser. I also don’t have cats. Don’t get the cheap ones. They don’t like road salt dirt etc.
I really don’t like the slee lift. The front coils have lost ALL of their paint and are rusting. I think he made the coils way too stiff, my rig is fully loaded and it’s still a STIFF ride. Also he never sent me a double carden shaft when I bought the kit 10 years ago - but I was too young and stupid to know the…
MPG should go up with the engine swap I just did. fingers crossed.
Yeah I really didn’t want to get new wheels, I wanted to use the stock alloys which are 16" - problem is only interco makes 37" tires on 16" rims and I didn’t want anything that aggressive/soft.
It’s an ancient blackhawk 4 ton lift. It probably weights 300lbs. Got it at a garage sale a couple years ago.
12.5 wide - 4" slee lift. Pretty sure they are going to rub at full stuff. Debating 6" of lift or maybe just 30mm coil spacers.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Meh, don’t care about the cosmetics on the frame that no ones ever going to be able to see.
It actually fits really well. Almost looks like it was meant to go there!
New ride, nice! Still have the 80?
Yeah, I’ve been spending all my time on Mud lol.
haha I thought I saw David Tracy there.
Indeed - I should probably take the time to build out a Mud thread as I’m sure I will hit road blocks and need to ask some questions when I get back to work.
Back in grad school so I’m not in the same state as the truck. Doubt I’ll make it home this summer either so shes going to have to sit for a while...
I never understood how death wobble has been a thing for so long on several vehicles. My cruiser has all sorts of drive-line vibrations on the highway but those are just from big tires and a stock driveshaft with a 4" lift, but its never had death wobble.
Do they make legit non hack lift kits for these things?
