Can Riley coach the USWNT with an underdog mindset like he does the Courage? It’s ridiculous that he does it with them, but the NT is a whole other kind of ego. And can he manage those egos or will he get Sermanni’d?

A couple years ago I would’ve said Harvey but she’s been pissing me off with how lackluster the Royals look. I just hope it’s not a dude, and especially not anyone coaching the youth teamsor who has coached a youth team recently (looking at you BJ Snow). But it’ll probably be a dude. Who else is in the pipeline and…
Some will say she’s going out on top. I’m just glad she won’t be around for the Olympics. Thanks Jill. Take care of your peacocks in peace now. ✌🏾
The USWNT can now play wherever they want as a result of their most recent CBA, but playing overseas means they would only get called up for NT duty during FIFA windows. So if, say, Mal Pugh decided to swerve the Spirit and played at PSG for the last two years, she’d likely miss the 5 game Victory Tour that USSF has…
“Compared to Tennis, the USWNT is Serena Williams. The USMNT is Reilly Opelka (yes there’s a reason you haven’t heard of him).”
It’s as minor thing but Horan didn’t exactly “return to the NWSL” since she went to PSG straight from high school, as the commentators are so fond of telling us every damn game she plays. But that is why all players abroad at the time came back to the US. Many were in previous domestic leagues that folded. USSF wanted…
It’s not true in theory, but in practice it kinda works out that way. The way USSF schedules stateside friendles for the USWNT outside of FIFA windows, it behooves the team to play in the NWSL because no league overseas would release their players like that, especially since the NWSL is a summer league. USSF can…
Are you writing the chyron for ESPN?
That’s acute joke.
Depends. Are there trees around?
What’s in a name? Grown men shouldn’t Nicks the idea of going by a diminutive.
All the O’s games I’ve been to this year, I always dipped out before the 7th inning stretch. Country Boy isn’t enough to keep me, but it’s cool they play America the Beautiful over that other dreck.
Her name is Alyssa Naeher. She has her flaws, but no one doubts her ability to make awesome saves. That penalty save against England is going on her career highlight reel. She just had a monster game against the reigning champs this past Sunday, securing the win for the Red Stars. And to top it all off, everyone…
Press is not an “avowed Christian.” Where are you even getting that from? She was raised Catholic, but isn’t devout at all. She’s spiritual, yes, but definitely not Christian. She wasn’t even in those USWNT prayer circles during the World Cup.
Goodness gracious Macario is the truth.
How do you figure she’s “more conservative than how the USWNT is presented as a whole?”
I know nothing about the WPSL, which means I should probably look into it more. There are a ton of teams. I know some NWSL teams have B-squads that play in the WPSL. That’s ll I know. I didn’t realize it was more a semi-pro league and that college kids could play, too.
Well hot damn. Isn’t Sandra Yu is supposed to be good, too? Hold up, she’s the one who retired this year! That’s why she sounds familiar. Sophia Smith is on that team, too! Daaaaang. What a team.
Yikes. They’re second ranked team in the Ohip Valley region of the WPSL. I googled it. They maybe should walk alone after that result? Or maybe it’s just in their Liverpudlian fashion to play down to a “lesser” team.
The USWNT always skews older, so I have some hope lol. You’re right, though. I think some could go another cycle. Like Press, Morgan, Heath, O’Hara, and Naeher. Their involvement largely depends on this next gen. We’re in a bit of a golden age right now. I hope like heck we do get some good young blood within the next…
