I mean, it’s not NOT normal, but we have the means to NOT live among the corpses of generations of dead cats, and to prevent needless suffering, so like, why not??

Not to mention that designer dogs end up having more health problems and behavioural problems, which leads to more dumping!!

It drives me nuts when people say of their cats or dogs “Oh I don’t want to take away his dignity!!!” like, okay, but the inevitable suffering and death of dozens of puppies or kittens is on your hands. Not to even mention scenarios like this one. Ugh.

I totally agree on the hoarding part, but surely some of the stray dog problem overall comes from people just dumping dogs. You don’t have to be a hoarder to get one or two dogs you can’t take care of/don’t care about, and then later be a total asshole to and abandon. You don’t have to be a hoarder to abuse or neglect…

In a just society, companies selling the cosmetic applications would give a portion of the profits to provide it to burn victims, essentially sharing the profit. I wouldn’t be surprised if SOME companies give a TINY, INSIGNIFANT portion, but yeah we’ll never get the fair sharing.
