No white woman would ever be arrested and sent to Riker’s without bail for sitting on the floor with her one-year-old. This is completely unacceptable.

I would tend to agree with most of what you said, but even a small increase in taxes (NYS already has high taxes for homeownership) creates resentment from residents.  

I say this as someone with two decades in the health care system - anyone who defends our current system is either an idiot or a paid shill. It is inefficient, costly, and inequitable. Move to Medicare for all (even just as an option to buy!) would fundamentally change the health care system for the better.

Perhaps instead of charging families for lunches, we should just increase school budgets* to provide healthy lunches to all students regardless?
