I think a lot about AI media and the current state of AI, and I think a disconnect is that a lot of media is about how AI develops to be on par with humanity on an emotional and cooperative level (AI recognizing that they both have the same flaws and struggles and that they’ll be able to accomplish great things if

Yeah the takeaway from this is NOT that single player games are in trouble. There were lots of other potential reasons (aside from quality) why this failed:

Technical issues aside, I cannot adequately express how good this game is. The interplay between all the different systems and abilities and cooperative mechanics makes it an absolute blast from the moment you drop into a fight to the moment you extract.

This is an absolute slam dunk if you are a fan of Deep Rock

Oh, no no no no. I’m not playing that game in VR. It was scary enough on a flat screen. The deep ocean is one of my fears. Not a phobia, but a fear.

“I was wrong all of this time, Xbox doesn’t care about us, Microsoft doesn’t care about us. We’ve been fighting this war for nothing.”

It’s amazing how that trailer gave you nothing at all to grasp on to. It was just weird shit on top of weirder shit.

Somewhere there’s a 45-year-old former jock having the time of his life playing BG3, intensely thirsting over the sexy ladies, completely oblivious to the fact that he used to pick on kids who wore Hook Ups tee-shirts and played D&D during school lunch.

I agree with this. They really need to get over the boring tedium crap that keeps people away from these games.

I think you’re on to something. As much as a very vocal portion of gamers hate micro transactions and the “service” model, it is undoubtedly incredibly popular. This could be similar.

I saw someone make an excellent point that the fundamental issue with the AI generated dialogue is that it lacks intent. Like an author when writing those kinds of scenes has a sense of context and how those interactions are supposed to contribute to the larger whole, even more so if the NPC has meaning for the plot.

Pillars looks like a generic fantasy world. But it’s actually kind of nuts under the surface. Though I do agree, what they showed didn’t really seem like a whole lot. Since a lot of the weirdness of the setting comes from stuff like Chanters and Ciphers and the kind of weird races they have, but what they showed

If the only good thing about a game is the cut scenes, it should be a TV show or a movie, not a game.  I say this as someone that really prefers a game have good story/lore, as I want to be invested in what’s happening.  On the other side of the coin, though, if it’s a boring slog to get from one bit of story to the

So it’s basically Marvel’s Avengers.

The fandom behind these games is a constant embarrassment. FIFY.

“So what, we just some kind of.... Live-service game?"

I’m only giving this game a maybe of a chance instead of outright passing just because it’s Rocksteady.

I was so, so ridiculously excited for Midnight Suns, being a massive Jake Solomon/XCOM fan, and the easiest possible mark for anything Marvel...and, holy fuck, did I end up all but loathing it. I’ve been reading comics, Marvel specifically, for 40 years. I adore these characters, but I detest these characters.

Y’know

1. Although I love BG3 I get people bouncing off of it. Sure, there’s the RNG element. But my buddy is fine with that and what HE really disliked about the game was the writing, particularly the companion characterizations. I don’t have his level of dislike but I get it. With the exception of Karlach a lot of the

“Yikes, hope this person has a trust fund.”

I’ve never understood the idea that you get satisfaction out of failing and eventually succeeding.”
