I live in Maine. I see all these people talking about the Boston area as if that’s New England. Bah! That’s more like New York than a small Maine town.

If you come to Maine, plan on taking your time. Don’t plan on eating in chain restaurants and always having everything where you expect one to be. Take back roads and

Doesn’t matter. No amount of begging will get a Mainer to produce that syrupy, gross, mess that people in the deep south (by which I mean anywhere south of the Tappan Zee bridge) call tea.

I avoid the big box consumer hardware stores unless it’s something I can’t get from my local hardware guys. Get to know the local store (I guarantee you there’s one around). Go in and browse for things you had no idea you needed. Get to know the old farts that work there.  Being an old fart myself I can tell you that

I think you mean set screws, and ACE has them in about 2 dozen sizes, in both S.A.E. and metric ranges of various lengths and in both black and stainless.   I had to buy one the other day for a towel rack that fell of my Mother-in-Law’s bathroom wall.

I suppose if you live close enough — but all the screws and anchors and strange looking hardware is actually pretty standard stuff and your nearest Ace Hardware store will have them.

Not “fat guy” compatible.  I’m not really that fat but if you look at the size chart, I’d need the XXL for the neck and the L for the sleeves.

In other news, water is wet.  Film at 11.

maybe people just aren’t listening to you?

With kids toys, blanks, sheets, and clothes -- if it can’t go through a regular wash and dry cycle it isn’t worth buying.  That was my rule with all three of mine.

You could pray to Dog about it.

Sure.  I absolutely trust them not to change the terms as soon as there’s a balance.  Not happening, WF.

What is it? Just read the paper.

This is a manufacturing problem. These bulbs are marketed as direct replacements and should perform as such. If they need an extra capacitor to regulate voltage better, then it should be part of the design.

These rides make me vomit. I see no reason to go on them for artificial fear. I’m a firefighter. I tell people I’m too cowardly to go on these rides, and I usually get a pass (see also: firefighter). I further tell them that if the coaster gets stuck up-side-down at the top of the loop, I’m willing to climb up, rope

This sounds like a problem for Toyota and other bad implementations.

My Ford has a system like this. If you get out of the car with the key in your pocket and close the door, the car honks the horn twice. After some amount of time it will shut off. The car will also not drive — it is prevented from going into drive or

Most of the cars will not allow you to put them in drive without the key being in the car with you. They are running but disabled for driving, just like with remote start systems.

to get certification to fly transatlantic, the 777 had to prove it could make more than half the maximum distance it would be over water with just a single engine.

Nonsense. It’s just that soaking them in the wrong thing is pointless. Regular dish soap is a surfactant. That basically means it makes bubbles and that makes things slippery. It’s good for grease and oils, but it separates in the water and doesn’t do much else. Dishwasher soap is different, especially the older

Taking a guess at this, I’d say the justification for the clause is that the station ownership makes a significant investment in marketing the particular personality as the image for their news station. I’d love to see what an employment lawyer has to say about how well that would hold up in court.

That we will, we think, get all three of our kids through college - at least their first degree — without debt. We don’t drive fancy foreign cars, own boats or snowmobiles, and we have a kitchen from the 1980s. We’ve made these decisions on purpose and the result is paying off for us.
