Um, no. My kids are grown now, but when they were this age and we’d be “on trains, at festivals or in airports”  -- no way would this work.  This would mean I would not feel when the kid let go and wandered off.  Nope. in any kind of crowd you want your own hand holding that child.  Period.

I find 72mg Concerta ( a staged release form of methelphenidate) does the trick and makes the rest of you far more tolerable. For those of you against using meds for this — piss off.

There are outlets you can screw into light bulbs, but I think this might be a bit too big to hide if you did it that way.

HOLY CRAP! I’VE WANTED THIS FOREVER

HOLY CRAP! I’VE WANTED THIS FOREVER

Slashdot did that years ago with their “reputation” scores.  You automatically hide posts from people with low scores.

The “Token of Doom”

Oh, at the end of the allotted fighting time, can I say “Okay, you can calm down now.” and have that work?

No. You block them. Here’s why...
While the IDEA of free and open argument is valid, social media is unbalanced and broken. It provides a nearly zero cost way for trolls to use YOUR topics and YOUR space to broadcast their nonsense. They are not interested in debate or learning. They are only there to spread their

I’ve raised three daughters and now have one granddaughter.  We had all the issues and all the conversations.

If you have to check their phone for apps like this, you’ve already got a much bigger problem. Instead of snooping and interrogating, try listening and having a real discussion of the issues.

I believe the term is “Debriefing Fluid” - Kidding.  I’m not much of a drinker.  I took a hike up Bradbury Mountain.  It was 65 degrees, low humidity, not windy, and nearly cloudless.   The leaves are just starting to change.   Perfect.

I echo your “Holy fucking shit, thanks for this!” and add “OMG! SPARKLES”

When estimating the amount you’ll be able to charge your phone, don’t assume “all” 500+ mah of charge will go from the 9v to the phone. First, you won’t get all of that charge. Second, this is not a perfectly efficient way to charge. A significant amount of energy will be lost to resistance (and some other things,

Where do you live?  It sounds like hell.

And those cams and anchors are also available as standard hardware.  I was surprised when I first saw them but it makes sense.  Why would any furniture maker go to the expense of having that kind of thing tooled up just for them?

I live in Maine. I see all these people talking about the Boston area as if that’s New England. Bah! That’s more like New York than a small Maine town.

If you come to Maine, plan on taking your time. Don’t plan on eating in chain restaurants and always having everything where you expect one to be. Take back roads and

Doesn’t matter. No amount of begging will get a Mainer to produce that syrupy, gross, mess that people in the deep south (by which I mean anywhere south of the Tappan Zee bridge) call tea.

I avoid the big box consumer hardware stores unless it’s something I can’t get from my local hardware guys. Get to know the local store (I guarantee you there’s one around). Go in and browse for things you had no idea you needed. Get to know the old farts that work there.  Being an old fart myself I can tell you that

I think you mean set screws, and ACE has them in about 2 dozen sizes, in both S.A.E. and metric ranges of various lengths and in both black and stainless.   I had to buy one the other day for a towel rack that fell of my Mother-in-Law’s bathroom wall.

I suppose if you live close enough — but all the screws and anchors and strange looking hardware is actually pretty standard stuff and your nearest Ace Hardware store will have them.
