Sense8! I am recommending it to literally every person ever. It is SO GOOD.

I don’t have anything profound to add other than that I am sorry you are dealing with that. I think that, ultimately, you have to do the things that make you happiest. It’s undeniably shitty, but if your parents make you feel badly about yourself then you have to make a decision that will lead you to your best life.

I’m feeling pretty (cautiously) optimistic right now. Physical therapy has been going great, and I JUMPED for the first time in a little over 4 months! Seems like a small thing but in recovery from a shattered lower leg, it’s a big deal - the idea of jumping is very scary because even though logically you know your

You're making me blush.

Your lack of understanding and nuance is the worst of America.

Also, in The West Wing they always order food at restaurants and then LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER. It’s like ringing someone’s doorbell and running away, only with kitchen service.

This is a crappy attitude to have. You have no idea about how other people experience being Americans. It’s not cool to dismiss shit like that by saying “Hey it could be worse!”

And just how are “we” trying to better ourselves? You act as though the average joe has a say in what goes down here. We are controlled by a select group of mostly white, mostly male millionaires who have no conception of what it’s like for regular people.

I’m not American. Probably a lot of your readers aren’t either. If you wanted to make this an open discussion that would’ve included a lot more of your readers, the question could’ve been phrased: What do you like about America?

Correction, the misunderstanding when the Mayor said 'Why is the city LIBRARY of all things making me look bad? You're a LIBRARY. BOOKS. No one dislikes the idea of libraries but somehow you're managing to do it.'

Good point. It’s like when you hear that more women than men are now graduating from university and the story is framed as if it’s a bad thing.

It seems as if this program is doing just that, too, if they're aiming to improve literacy skills by having boys build something. It goes by the prevailing idea that boys are doers, builders, and hands on, so the only way to encourage them to read is by building robots, but girls should just be happy reading about

Your ass?

“You see, dear, even though boys are routinely encouraged and supported into STEM fields, and girls - of equal and even greater aptitude - are systemically discouraged and pushed away from STEM fields, we still felt like the boys deserved an awesome robot club to help them get that extra boost, just in case the entire

The misunderstanding came when they thought she would go away meekly an accept the fact that they wouldn’t let her participate in the robotics course.

Because boys have it so hard in the engineering world. This type of discouragement is exactly why girls end up abandoning STEM interests around 11 or 12 years old.

Good for this little girl! I work in education and there’s a lot of talk about how we have to make an effort to teach boys more effectively and it pisses me off. I believe that all children have unique learning styles (some are visual learners, others are manual learners, etc.) I don’t see why we have to segregate
