Maybe compromise on heel height? Like a kitten heel? That’s what my sister and I did for her wedding. Also knew I’d have to be standing a lot, so high high heels were not even considered, and I’m a lot shorter than her, but I’m not teeny tiny, I look just like a 7” shorter scaled version of her. So low heels worked!…

He shouldn’t have mentioned it was his birthday. Wedding trumps birthday by a lot. You have a birthday every year, a wedding hopefully not more than once (or twice). Not to mention, it’s shameful for a grown man to care about his birthday beyond having an excuse to get together with friends and drink.

I had to attend a wedding on my birthday as well one year. As far as I was concerned, the wedding was more important, so I wouldn’t feel too bad about it. It happens!

I thought incidents like this were the stuff of myth. When my best friend got married, I even felt bad I was taller than her and tried to find ways to make myself seem shorter so I’d not take all the attention.
