Conan is bitter. Inexplicably so, but still. I know people who have worked with him and by all accounts he just sounds like a prickly cynic. Maybe it’s his Ivy League background or something, but he always struck me as someone who has to come out the smartest and sharpest in any convo, which doesn’t exactly make him

What if she decided to start wearing makeup, tho? For confidence or just to switch things up? Would that change your feelings and opinions of her or your sense of how “lucky” you are?

As much of a punchline as she is these days, mad props to Madonna for going through ALL that shit from a comparatively young age, and at a time when women were even less supported/protected. There is no shortage of footage showing her owning stupid, misogynistic interviewers. I guess that’s why being branded a “bitch”

If only. Samantha Markle just released the first volume of a two-part tell-all (adorably titled The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister). That trash family’s nowhere close to done, and publications like The Daily Fail love reporting on their antics.

Agree to disagree, I guess. To me it’s painfully obvious when he’s trying to do the overwrought method thing, and even more embarrassing when he’s clearly upstaged by his costars (hello, Lawless.) Maybe the ghost of Laurence Olivier should try imparting his “My dear boy, have you tried acting?” wisdom on The Beef.

The Daily Mail is the scummiest of them, and their readers are pretty garbage too. Piers Morgan, one of the “star” writers for The Daily Fail, has had it out for Meghan ever since she turned down his advances during an interview, then further insulted him by not inviting him to her wedding. So glad she and Harry got

The entertainment industry needs to clean house, period. It’s still rife with dangerous, predatory creeps who have yet to be exposed for the myriad of reasons monsters go free for decades. Johnny, Marilyn, Joss and definitely Weinstein and Cosby are all old/getting old and had their glory days—like, basically their

Saaame. I’m friends with a woman from NZ who grew up in the same town as Taika, and the only negative dirt his hometown peeps seem to have on him is that a) he comes from a fairly privileged family and b) was prone to being an arrogant ass while on the up-and-up.

I felt this when Alison Brie was cornered at a premiere about her brother-in-law James Franco, when the story broke about what a predatory POS he was while teaching his acting class. She was visibly blindsided by it, and gave what I thought was the most diplomatic answer on the spot, but damn. Why is she being

Is Shia The Beef considered his generation’s Dustin Hoffman or does he just think he is? Critics almost always cite him as the weak link in every movie he’s in; elsewhere he’s mocked for being an insufferable—and now abusive—doof. I almost wonder if Hollywood doesn’t care enough to defend or cancel him, but will just l

Yeah, I still watch his show from time to time because he gets quite a few quality guests (obv along with the garbage) and sometimes I actually walk away having learned something. BUT. Maher is a borderline-boomer liberal, and makes zero attempts to conceal his contempt for millennials, which in turn seriously clouds

YEP. My abusive ex (who also groomed me) tested those waters for a good year or two before releasing the full extent of his awfulness. And while the “pink” flags were there the whole time, I was too young and inexperienced and seeing the world through those rosy, romantic glasses that I either didn’t notice them or

I’ll have to look that up for sure. I just finished Tom Quinn’s book “Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle” and it’s a really fun, interesting account about the palace: when and how it was built and who for (Edward VIII famously called it “the aunt heap,”) all the renovations over the

Really? I never heard that. I always assumed he, like most of the old guard courtiers, followed a code of silence regarding their employers. I’m not surprised though; the Queen Mother was a meddlesome pain in the ass by most accounts and Charles was...well...Charles.

I think they just gossip about other celebs/the biz.

SUPER late responding but yes! Martin is one of my favorite characters on the show. His presence is so reassuring. I’d love to have him as my private secretary lol.

It sounds very...old lady. I don’t mean to sound disrespectful but old people can be hella petty and fussy about shit like that. And elderly thespians? Forget it. They expect Shakespearian levels of deference. (Former theater minion here.) So I could totally see her getting mad at physics but blaming the big shot

You’re not wrong, it definitely had R+J vibes. What I found inappropriate was that Diana would have been 16 and Charles 29; their 13 year age difference is really uncomfortable to reassess, especially today. She was basically preyed upon.

I’m woefully late reading this, but you’re absolutely right (also beautifully written). While I’m not sure Morgan intended each character to be defined by a specific decade, it’s definitely evident throughout the series. Spot on about Charles, too: he is straight-up 80s.

Again, you seem to have missed my point. Owning physical books isn’t an indicator of someone’s intellect or how much they enjoy reading, especially in this day and age where 90% of everything is online or digitized. And for those of us who travel a lot and don’t have the space/funds to curate a Beauty and The Beast
