Why does owning physical books equate to being an avid reader? I think you missed my point entirely. You don’t NEED to show off a physical library to prove that you’re an intellectually curious person. I know plenty of people (myself included) who travel extensively for work and their “libraries” are all electronic.

That’s the thing tho, which I don’t think a lot of people understand: not owning actual, physical books doesn’t mean you don’t read. Kindles have been around for ages, almost everything is digital now; you can be a voracious reader with nary a tome in your house. I get loving to collect books—I’m guilty of that

I think the general rule with that family is you provide for the “firm” (the Brit Royal Fam’s name for their own family lol) and when you stop contributing or, in Kanye’s case, go full meltdown, you’re out. Say what you want about that trashy clan, but those women have their shit together and then some. When they act

What’s with celebs and Wyoming? The tax breaks? Potential fracking ventures?

Me neither. I actually really like her and Pattinson as actors, and think it’s lame for people to cite Twilight—which was 13 freaking years ago from the first film, when they were kids—as a legitimate excuse for all the hate. People need to grow the F up.

Well, they definitely cast an actress as divisive as the late Princess Diana was.

Maybe not *exactly* related but book snobs are why I hate that meme that goes something like “Never f*ck someone who doesn’t own books.”

Look, y’all. Liking to read isn’t a personality trait, it should pretty much be one of those baseline human interests like music and movies. We may have vastly different tastes and

I always read that their honeymoon was a disaster? Charles spent the whole time reading and Diana was bored out of her mind. By her own accounts she preferred the city to the country, wasn’t a fan of hunting, and even made Charles give up his dogs because she wasn’t a fan. I don’t think Diana went full-on manipulative

This is the most on-the-nose assessment of why favored children are typically the worst. They know they’re the favorite, know they can get away with it, and after awhile it even becomes a fun game to see how far they can push the boundaries of their doting parent. Meanwhile the least-liked kid is usually the best

Given how badly The Crown draws its American characters, I doubt he’d be very kind to his fictionalized Markle.

I always thought that too. I mean, playing the shy, “aw, shucks” adoring husband to your super star-powered wife is hardly the worst role, and would definitely have won people over and then some. I mean hell, why not dance WITH Diana during a randomly-dropped and out of place Billy Joel performance at the opera? It’s

Philip’s “we’re here to support the Queen” talk with her put how poorly Diana fits into the family into stark relief.

As uncomfortable as it is to say (write?), I honestly think Elizabeth and Phillip really did have favorites among their children, and Charles wasn’t either of theirs. There really are parents who maybe love their children, but really, really seem to dislike them, no matter what said child does or doesn’t do. It’s

Oh man, really? I didn’t know that. He and Margaret would have killed each other before the honeymoon. Major Taming Of The Shrew vibes there.

I think Elizabeth Debicki will bring the charisma to an older, more gloves-off version of Diana. She’s a mesmerizing actress. I felt Emma Corrin was great as a younger, greener Diana, who maybe didn’t have the confidence and full charisma yet but was already upstaging her in-laws and getting side-eyed for it.

As much as I love how the show depicts Margaret, she was a thoroughgoing B in her lifetime—insanely rude to everyone, grossly entitled even for a member of that family, and infinitely less clever than she or, seemingly The Crown, assumed.

And not even then--she explicitly prefers her son over her daughter, dismissing the former as weak and “limited.”

Why? The implication that she landed the role because of her relationship with the creator and writer?

It’s a completely false equivalent but now I’m picturing your childhood like the movie Troop Beverly Hills and I’m positively sick with jealousy.

YEP. The silence from my Trumper relations following the attempted coup was damn near deafening. Just, like...nothing. Crickets.
