I’ve worked in both sides of the dome. We ignored them in the Senate office, paid attention in the House (just as a matter of volume, there were way too many people faxing in the Senate to be able to respond to every single person).
Apply to the office, but typically people apply to like, EVERY SINGLE OFFICE that has an opening.
By and large, I think all calls are a good thing.
Typically speaking, if you want to get into politics, all that matters is party ID. I’ve seen (just on our side) people who are basically socialists working for blue dogs and vice versa. Anything to get a foot in the door, providing you want a job in politics.

If we found that the individual was not from the district and/or state, we’d thank them for the call and not record…
