There have been several comics with female leads that have been extremely successful financially (Batwoman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Zatanna). If a book is good, people will buy it. Also, a lot of female characters do well in team-books, which is true for most characters as very few can maintain the sales

See, I like a lot of the current female characters in comics. There's lots of writers and artists out there who treat their female characters with the respect they deserve (Bendis, Fraction, Simone, Rucka, etc. etc.), but out of the four people I just listed only one is a woman. It's not so much what they do when they

Michael Chabon wrote an excellent essay called "Trickster in a Suit of Light" which talks all about how people love to set up this barrier between entertainment and art, but that the two are really part of the same thing, and they have equal value at the end of the day.

Yeah, but how is that fair to the girls who actually are being raped? As a university, your first priority should be towards your students. They're the reason you exist in the first place. How would you feel if you volunteered sensitive information like that in a survey and then they said: "Nah, this makes us look

To clarify, I meant you should be able to share what you want from masturbation with your partner. If you want to do it with them, fine, If you want to do it alone, cool. There just doesn't need to be this huge barrier in communication.

You have to be joking. I'm sorry, I'm a girl and I read almost every major superhero book out there. I've worked at a comic store for the past 5 years. I love superhero comic books. Comic books are for everyone, not just boys.

And I would love to write some books geared at girls. I would also like to write Batman comics. Why can't I do both?

This. Masturbation does not need to be separate from your sex life with your partner, it should be part of it. You should be open about it and share, and it can even improve your relationship.

Sigh. As a writer, this is really frustrating. Lately it seems the only literary field where women dominate is YA literature. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to write a YA book, but I don't ever want that to be the only thing I do. I want to be able to do a bit of everything.

Yahoo Comments always make me feel like I need to take a long shower.

If you ever end up in NYC, make the time to go to Orchard Corset Center. It's a hole in the wall bra shop run by this lovely Hasidic couple. The wife, Peggy, will look at you, touch the side of your boobs, and then give you the perfect bra. She's a miracle worker. They're also super affordable, and they specialize in

I don't wear make-up every day, not even to work. I think about it, but then I think I'd like to sleep in that extra 15 minutes. Sometimes I throw on a bit of mascara or lipstick, but nothing that takes more than 5 seconds.

Knope Pope 2013!

Aw, thanks. I really needed that laugh.

Rashida Jones for technical female cardinal!

I'm assuming it's because Scott has that great redemption story of crook-to-hero. Plus, I think Edgar Wright really loves to focus on the relationships between characters, and Scott and Cassie have such a wonderful one, especially since so much of what he does is to support her.

I would love a Black Panther movie, but I get that Guardians is necessary to set up all the Thanos/Cosmic stuff that Joss wants to do in Avengers 2. Plus, y'know, Rocket Raccoon.

*swoon*

I have pet rats. They're already my overlords.

That should be "make him a sandwich." Clearly I just want to make myself a sandwich. DAMN YOU, FEMINIST BRAIN. STOP THINKING OF THE THINGS YOU WANT.
