It basically seems to sap less power from the engine when you need it for things like inclines and freeway merging. They were sprightly when given the gas at more demanding times…

Acura added a torque converter to a DSG for the four-cylinder TSX. And DSG’s might be good for hybrids as the electric motor can smooth out some of the low-speed issues.

I dunno, anecdotally my family has had pretty good luck buying used rentals. As someone else pointed out, they’ve usually had the basic maintenance done on them and as long as you drive it first to make sure it isn’t about to fall apart due to someone doing cruise control burnouts in it, it’s probably about a wash…
