Ys VIII is soooo good. So proud to have been involved with the game. Getting ready for IX?

I had tried invading people before to get those covenant rewards, but had mixed feelings about that process. Being summoned to help people beat a tough boss was very rewarding though, both in the way it made me feel and the extra spells, embers, and souls I received.

Yakuza series has more of a throwback beat-em-up feel at times, but with a few different layers of depth depending on which yakuza game it is. It’s not like the easy-lock on/quick-counter Batman Arkham style, and has enough tweaks and variation that I really enjoy it. It takes a little more attention that in Sleeping Read more

If you’re interested in painting miniatures, I’d check out Midwinter Minis on Youtube. He does a good job of breaking down the process and how you can get the raw materials on a budget (which even then you’re still going to be paying $40-50 for a decent set of paints). Between Reaper Bones and the Wizkids D&D minis Read more

Yeah I was a big fan of the first game and I enjoyed the campaign of 2 a lot, but the multiplayer is so much fun (and I do suck, like I enjoy playing Halo but I can tell while doing it that I’m bad at it).

Continue my slow journey through Pyre and some more Sleeping Dogs. It’s been interesting revisiting Sleeping Dogs after playing through the entire main Yakuza series. There are similarities and my tolerance for that classic open world style game has changed. I enjoy the vendors chatting and some of the specific Read more

Every covenant has it’s own currency for completing certain tasks. You turn them in to their respective covenant to up your rank and get rewards, usually exclusive gear or spells.

There’s a big standalone, game-sized mod coming out for New Vegas today - The Frontier - looks to be a full Fallout game set in Portland OR, has drivable vehicles, factions, etc. 7 years in the making, and available on Steam - just a friendly FYI

The ads for Shadow Warrior 3 that I kept seeing during AGDQ made me remember that I had barely touched the 2013 reboot, so I’ve gone back to see why I hadn’t really gotten into it. I’m about 2/3 the way through, but it’s easy for me to understand why I played so little of it. The guns are the least satisfying weapons Read more

I’ve been trying to clear through my backlog of the older Assassin’s Creed games and just started Syndicate about a week and a half ago. It’s definitely my favourite so far, and might be the first one I aim for 100% completion with since Assassin’s Creed 2.

Not sure if it’s the same in Dark Souls, but in #3 there are covenant alters you can offer the tokens to for rewards. The sun tokens give you a couple miracle spells (damage reduction boost spell, and a greater lightning damage spell). Other covenants give different rewards (spells, weapons, the ability to reallocate Read more

I wish I could draw. I never had the patience to get the hang of it. Probably why painting minis is so satisfying, it's basically colouring in.

Due to the stress of the past year, it’s been really hard for me to buckle down and focus on games enough to finish them, instead starting a bunch of games trying to find one that feels satisfying enough to help me relax, meaning that the list of games I’m “actively” playing has become absolutely massive. Certainly Read more

As someone who’s played this game countless times in the past 20 years, I’d agree with the others. The rewards you get for Chocobo breeding feel especially geared towards beating the WEAPONs, and everything about those two goals feel very removed from the main plot and systems. Both take tons of time and grinding and Read more

My boyfriend has been wanting me to play Dark Souls, I’ve played a bit but I’m going to try to play some more. He just likes to watch I guess, but he won’t give me any hints, and I’m the type of player that needs a waypoint. I’ll give it my best shot though!

In Dark Souls 3, I posted up outside Dragonslayer Armor and helped people beat that boss to get those sun tokens. I had basically never played online co-op in a souls game before, and it was actually a blast! My record with the boss was 29 wins, 9 losses due to death of the host, and 5 losses due to my own death. Read more

I saw a portion of a certain 6 hour review of Tokimeki Memorial on YouTube and decided to stop in the middle so that I could dust off my Vita to play the PS1 version. It’s weird finally getting to play a game that I think has been referenced many times in other games, anime, and manga for its dating sim elements and/or Read more
