Sorry, but this article is a joke. Even when you control for price, more people are choosing Android. The GS3 outsold the iPhone 4S and cost about the same. If Android's selling point was its low cost, you would expect the iPhone to dominate Android phones at equivalent price points, which is no longer the case.
