Yep, exactly. If you look at the photos you can see that the panels in the rear furthest from the visible damage have begun separating from each other (gapping). That means the frame that they are bolted to has been compromised.

I used to have a Saturn SL2 that had those. I really liked it, yes you still had to engage the lap belt, but I had a shoulder injury at one point and reaching low was far less painful than reaching high and across my body. I heard they outlawed them due to injuries from the belts not retracting but I still thought it…
