You’re making the wrong comparison, it’s not US gov’t record vs. Russia’s record, it’s Elon Musk/SpaceX’s record vs Russia’s.

I get the complaints about how he handles Tesla, but SpaceX is legit. Rocket science is hard, anyone who has tried to put something in space has failed spectacularly several times before succeeding.

Cars have reached a level of quality where buying a 3 year old mid range car is at least competitive with buying a new econobox.

I don’t want to punish them for being poor, I want to punish them for breaking the law. Just like I’d be punished for breaking the same law. If we aren’t going to punish people for breaking it because we think the punishment is worse than the crime, repeal the law.

You better believe it aces that test, although ideally you’d just park in the fire lane since you’ll only be a few minutes and parking next to other cars is for poor people.

Counterpoint: This is the best SUV for doing what SUVs are actually used for, which is tailgating people on your way to the mall. Since this is a 1-of-1 BMW with a V12 in it it also satisfies the “I’m way wealthier than you” criteria.

Yeah, I was mostly pointing out that when buying a bike, most people don’t haggle or finance or anything. They pay full asking price and it just shows up.

If you’re willing to pay the asking price in cash, this is actually pretty easy with a car too.
