It absolutely can be used by individual police officers. It can actually be used by anyone in government; the theory is if they had no idea they were violating your rights they can’t be held responsible for it.

Some of us drive stick and can’t have both hands on the wheel 100% of the time. When I’m in traffic that requires stop/go and I’m frequently in and out of neutral I tend to drive with my left hand at 12 and my right hand ready to shift, putting it back on the wheel every 4 seconds is dumb.

Qualified immunity. Unless there’s already direct precedence that running over someone at 80mph violates their rights you can’t sue the cop directly. It obviously does violate their rights, but unless some judge already ruled on it in a previous case you’re SOL.

I’m not sure it’s even more polite. Maybe your bar isn’t busy, but I’ve been in a few where making them stop what they’re doing to come read your phone would’ve been pretty rude.

While it’s possible John did this on his own, he’s also wealthy and knows how to party. I bet there’s half a dozen other folks on that order which makes all the sense in the world; if some rich athlete is paying for it there’s no need to be reasonable with what you’re ordering.

When the answer isn’t Miata, it’s GTI. VW’s DSG is quite good.

This is unfortunately the result of current trademark law. You have to vigorously defend trademarks in order to keep them. This is what vigorous defense looks like.

So are we arguing that we should have the right to sell someone else’s property? When you lease a car it isn’t yours, it belongs to some bank that is perhaps owned by the manufacturer of the car.

Andrew Jackson’s?

The tires they use for ‘ring times are barely road legal. Even a tiny bit of rain is a problem for those things.

A bunch of orphans on hamster wheels.

Maybe he can reach all the way into the future to bring us “bulletproof glass”. I know, it sounds futuristic, but I believe in Elon.

This is true in the legal sense, you have no expectation of privacy in public.

Yeah, but VW is definitely sandbagging the GTI as they have for generations. Turbo cars always feel faster than similarly rated NA cars because of low end torque, compare it against another turbo car and you won’t feel that delta in torque.

I’m more put off by the fact that a total stranger offered to help him out and his response is to spend half the article shitting on him.

This is something that always frustrated me with vegetarian/vegan options at a lot of places; they try to be something they’re not. There are foods that are great that happen to be vegetarian/vegan (like a lot of Indian food), and then for whatever reason we ignore that and try to make cheeseburgers instead.

While you may be right, whose fault is that? We’ve created a situation where the guy is scared to close the door with women around, because HR will crucify him, but won’t do the same thing if he closes the door with men around.

That would be marketed as the healthy/diet choice here in the USA, it’s funny that it’s “heavy” in Japan.

Or he understands that it doesn’t matter who he trusts or doesn’t trust, other people’s perception of the situation can cause him a lot of harm.

If good intentions are all the manufacturer has holding their program together no wonder it fails.
