After spending the morning trying to help our students sort their feelings about the shooting, some of my colleagues were wondering aloud why this particular one is hitting them so hard. It’s because of the sheer number of victims, but also because this one played out in real time all over social media, and the news

The more recent trainings are telling us to “Run, Hide, Fight.” Meaning, first try to get out if at all possible, if you can’t do that, hide and prepare to fight like hell if the shooter comes into the room. A lockdown is still called, but that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone has to stay in one place. And locking

Yup, I just posted the same thing above. Nightmares, constantly running scenarios through my head, scrutinizing students as they pass by in the hallways. Exhausting.

I went to high school in MI in the mid-late 90's (pre-Columbine). We had no active shooter drills.

I work in a high school. We do active shooter trainings and lockdown drills regularly. And because of that I frequently find myself thinking “ok if a shooter came in right now, what would my options be? Where are the exits? Where could I hide? How many students are around me? Could we fit into that closet? Could we

She loves gadgets and has eats out of a bird feeder in the backyard.

I had completely forgotten he died. Then I saw this article and it made me sad all over again.

Oh my God. I knew their first names were stupid- I had no idea the stupidity goes two middle names deep.

Eh, something tells me they’d be fine with orange tic tacs, too.

Oh I agree she’s been having work done for a long time now. I was just surprised when I saw her recently (there was the commercial and at the Golden Globes) and something looks really wrong. I don’t know if previous surgeries finally caught up with her or if there was some kind of medical/health event. But her face

Whenever someone (men and women) gets plastic surgery to avoid the natural aging process, they end up looking weird and unnatural. Just accept it as a fact of life and age gracefully, people!

You sound like me once upon a time :) First, trust me when I say your college friends are not lifelong friends, so don’t waste your time putting up with their petty bullshit. I didn’t realize until after college, but most of mine were a bunch of toxic assholes and I wasted far too much time trying to maintain long

I had that when I was on Prozac. I was no longer too depressed to function, but was also just in a permanent state of meh. My psychiatrist added another med to help “boost” the Prozac, which did help. Later, I switched to citalopram and that was way better.

Sorry I’m late to this, but just wanted to say none of that sounds at all f’ed up given what you’re going through. You just keep doing whatever you need to do right now.

I knew someone once who had a phone (pre cell phone days) that she’d had for a few years and it broke. So she bought a new one, put the old one in the box, and returned that to the store for a full refund. She bragged/laughed about how she’d done that with lots of things and how her mother taught her to do it. These

Me too. Mainly because I am just too lazy to return things. Though I do HATE paying for shipping because I’ve been spoiled by Amazon Prime, so if there’s no free shipping, I’m not buying it.

Yup, full derriere coverage! I got the mid-rise bottoms and the tankini top. The bottoms cover my butt, although I think if I were to order again I’d get either the lower rise or higher rise bottoms. The mid rise ones hit in a weird spot on my belly that kind of cuts it in half.

I’m @mayorcleanpants

Agree! They both suck and their fans are all a-holes. The Patriots are jerks, and after the way the Eagles fans treated Viking fans a couple of weeks ago, I’ve decided I hate them too.

I finally caved and ordered one from Land’s End. I’d been avoiding it because, hello! Mom suits! (seriously, my mom gets hers there). But, well... I am a mom and am not trying to impress anyone. Their suits are not cheap, but they’re really good quality and they keep everything in place, so I’ve been pretty happy with
