There is definitely that, but the characters feel true to me. Not so much during the more outlandish stuff as the interactions and kinds of conversations.

Definitely do. When I was in a particularly bad patch, people urged me to seek out counseling, and I was like "meh." However, I'm glad I finally did. It's not that counseling will wave a magic wand and cure your depression, but it can help you manage it so your day to day life is much more bearable.
