Yeah, one thing that is unclear from the riddle is if the cigars have to be fully on the table, or if a portion of the cigar is allowed to hang off. Obviously, that changes everything and becomes more of a balancing act to see who can get them on without falling. However, for the sake of the riddle, I assume that the

Sure there is. The mirror-ness of the layout isn’t restricted to the horizontal/vertical planes. All cigars could be laid out in a diagonal and the layout would still be mirrored.

No. The very first sentence clearly states “Two people are seated at a square-topped table.

It is a square topped table, so if Player B always mirrors Player A’s moves, they should always be able to place the last one.

The phrasing of the man/father/photo riddle is far too vague. It was never clear if “this man” referred to the man speaking or the man in the photo and that detail completely changes the answer.

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t see any harm in speculating on what could be causing the discrepancy up until the point we either a) discover something that fits that model or b) understand why that model is wrong.

Space: Bedazzled!

You know, I grew up poor too. My family was always on welfare, always moving from shitty apt to shitty apt looking for work. I was homeless when I graduated high school. Never went to college. Though I’ve never had a credit card, I had to file for bankruptcy when I was 23, mostly due to family/medical issues.

I know. That’s why I brought it up. The very first sentence in this article states “The drought hitting the West is not just striking the continental US.” The author then goes on to state that drought and fire is a problem in Alaska.

That is not a glacier.

Or they will all turn into this guy...

“spelt right”? I’m guessing there was a reason you didn’t pursue that field.

They still had fires back then. Fire is a natural part of the ecosystem’s life cycle.

I know this is old, but am I the only one who sees a creepy kid standing with his hand in his pocket in the to left corner? It is the first thing I saw when I looked this. So distinct!

Sorry to nitpick, but “liquid gas” is an oxymoron. I know what you’re getting at - something we’re familiar with as a gas in liquid form - but this is a science article. Let’s call it what it is.

My thought as well, but the surrounding edges on Charon look so much more gentler than we see in Helens or Crater Lake. The ratio of peak to surrounding area also seems much different than any we have on Earth.

Curious indeed! This will be a fun puzzle. Is it just a trick of the light that makes it look like slightly different material?

It’s not a major part of their diet. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the declining fish populations and climate change had a factor in its desperate attempt at a meager meal.

Yeah, I mean, in this state, you could practically lay down on the poor thing. Not a ton of immediate danger here unless you try to do this:

A lot of people don’t seem to consider them as life, but we’ve known about species of bacteria thriving inside volcanoes for a while now. Still cool to find more complex lifeforms, but there is absolutely no where on earth where we haven’t been able to find at least single cell organisms thriving.
