So many parents could be taught a lesson from that statement!

I remember searching through the low shelves on my hands and knees for a black Barbie that "looked like me", and that was in the 90s. I think it's gotten better, as far as I can tell from my 2 month stint last year at Toys R Us, but it is definitely still a very low selection. We had plenty of black dolls in my house,…
I pretty much refuse to watch any gay themed movie I know ends sadly. I won't even try to watch Brokeback Mountain because my emotions will never handle that. I will stick to Shelter and Imagine Me and You (prob my fave gay romance honestly) until Hollywood can make being gay not a tragedy.
I'm going to go withe awesome on that one. Just because he was who he was and gave no fucks. And didn't die at the end in a tragic fashion! (I always get so upset when he gets shot though, like "Gay Perry NOOO!")
That is bullshit. It makes me glad we got Neon Trees who I highly doubt will come out with terrible rapist lyrics any time soon.
I remember being so scared for her. Like "Stacy no, you gonna die girl!" I cannot even handle the influx of emotions I now have about BSC.
This was my fave! Because I was legit terrified of being in cars during snowstorms (I live in the Midwest, this was a problem) and it was like high tension for me. I want to reread it right now.
I just want to say that your OZ story is the BEST. I am straight up laughing to death.
Damn you for getting that theme song stuck in my head!
I feel like your friend must be totally crazy to not see that she is amazingly beautiful. How can you not think she's gorgeous?! And she's a rad feminist, so bonus awesome points!
Some school corps (like mine) are K-5 elementary, 6-8 middle school and 9-12 high school. Preschool is optional nowadays I believe.
That is the only time black face didn't disgust me. That movie handled it better than anything else I've ever seen.
The title alone made me think it was probably a book I would've loved in middle school and that's it. I just can't believe she joked about acid to the face. That just makes me cringe.
I have a question for anyone who read Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? I saw this quote was attributed to her from that book: “You should know I disagree with a lot of traditional advice. For instance, they say the best revenge is living well. I say it’s acid in the face—who will love them now?” Is that actually in…
I saw Brokedown Palace one night on tv when I was like 9. I am still terrified that I will one day end up in a drug ring abroad and be sent to jail. Those Locked Up Abroad shows scary the hell out of me.
If I happen to catch it, I typically really like it. I don't watch it regularly or anything, but it's good for just relaxing on something silly.
You are totally normal. I watch that movie all the time, it is my favorite forever, and I will always cry at least twice. And it's always something new. Oh Steve gets rejected from the army? CRY. Steve gets beat up for demanding respect for the soldiers in the movie reel? CRYING. "I had a date"? SOBBING FOREVER. Like…
I like the idea of families sharing names too. I hated that my younger sisters and I had my dad's name and my mom/older sib had her name, also the name of the family we are closest to. I felt like an outsider in my own family and would've much preferred having a whole house of one name. I'm honestly pretty tired of…
As someone who works in a library, that is messed up. I take abuse of patron information very seriously because instances like that should never happen. I hope you reported him, jerk deserves to lose his job.
I guess I have to be the one to mention that Brendan Fraser's greatest role was as George of the Jungle. That movie gave 8 yr old me so many feelings, y'all don't even know.
