In men’s hockey, 100%. In women’s, they’re essentially the same teams. I WANT Canada to win, but I won’t be surprised at all if the US does.

We beat them in the Olympics, they beat us in the Worlds. Both teams are equally talented, & the U.S. could easily beat us in this tournament. They’re not underdogs here.

Not a “higher form of thinking”, but it’s better than most sites. I’m a female sports fan, & while Deadspin is far from perfect, I don’t see nearly as much misogyny & ignorance here as I do on the majority of sports sites.

I read pieces from The Guardian & the BBC on this, and both basically summed it up as “poor luck, but this happens to her all the time”, and even seemed to hint at this particular athlete always crying foul.
