This is at least the fifth article about this episode on the site
This episode is the perfect example of what an adaptation should be. it doesn’t need to be 1 for 1 and shouldn’t be. Take what works, fix what doesn’t, and take risks when you think you have something really good.
The reveal of Jay’s last name, and Red’s reaction to it in context, got me.
And heck, the original show itself forgot that Donna had a little sister.
So a Netflix show. End on a cliffhanger and canceled after 1 season and then have the mighty algorithm recommend it to everyone?
Interestingly nobody seems to be upset that Eric’s sister Laurie isn’t mentioned in the article or accounted for in the new show, as far as we know.
But...why would you choose the less fun way to think about it?
extremely funny seeing people be like ‘while i don’t think danny masterson should be on the show, and agree his behavior is irredeemable, but i am shocked and appalled that when this review was describing the first show they didn’t mention his character’
I loved how the normally sweet, optimistic Kitty was the one to see her daughter for who she was.
The short answer is that he isn’t in the new series, and the rest of the cast is, so they review the returning characters. The long answer is the same, but with the phrase “because the actor raped a bunch of women” inserted before the word “and.”
The episode where Eric goes to work with Kitty at the hospital was one of my favourites of the original series.
But enough about the new Star Wars trilogy...
Nice to see recognition DJR (and Kitty!) was basically the secret weapon of the original. Far and away the best and funniest character; followed by Red.
The Cardboard box was in the original NES game, a full decade before Metal Gear Solid.
Hyde died on the way back to his home planet.
(even if, at times, it rehashes “will they/won’t they” plot lines from any other high school-set series)
And it was then decided that Hyde never existed.
And people keep telling me to think outside the box.
