It’s easy to make cheap things cheaply it turns out.
That’s..... AWESOME!
Nope! A big NOPE at this price.
That’s the problem, you can get a bigger, more capable truck for the same money. There were plenty of Gladiators at the local Jeep dealership for well into the $50k range. That’s 3/4 ton truck money. I love the idea of a Wrangler pickup priced to compete with midsize offerings, not so much priced against 1/2 to 3/4…
I feel this! People use my residential street as a by-pass to avoid busy intersections. So when I and my neighbours drive down it during rush hour, we go really really slow....and full stop at double checks at the stop signs. Maybe even roll down the window to say “hi” to the neighbours.
You won’t pass smog without replacing the A/C filter + rear blinker bulb and we had to wipe the windscreen - that’ll be $500 please.
I think the Honda Element is the right answer here. New enough and Honda enough to be reasonably reliable (I like the Isuzu but wouldn’t want to depend on it), and the Honda is cheap enough that if it gets wrecked or stolen (both very real possibilities with a street-parked car in NYC), it wouldn’t be a huge loss.
Can a free and open event exist without morons eventually turning up and ruining it?
OK, former trucker and mechanical engineer here. I just wanted to address this kluge-job, and answer a few of your questions:
I mean, everything you just listed convinced me that having a pet over a child was the right decision.

I always try to take a giant breath and see if I can read the whole sentence in one breath.
He said he wanted a flashy car that could take him to jail in a straight line at any time, there aren’t many meeting that description that couldn’t kill you if you aren’t careful.
