Uncle Ben's Perverted Rice.

The A.V. Club
Oh my god, I'm a geek

Maybe more "garage punk" than "garage rock" but fuck it, give it up for Teengenerate:

Don't know the Oblivians!? Well, here's yr chance to get acquainted:

That would be more appropriate, though I'm kind of hoping next time occasional AV Club commenter I Actually Am Billy Corgan shows up around here he will also have altered his handle to reflect these recent events.

His name is not Billy. His name is William.

Any head shop lame enough to be playing Legend is not one I'm interesting in patronizing.

Pretty hard to light a joint with a cell phone, though

I completely agree with you on "Brilliant Disguise" but much as I like "Tunnel Of Love" otherwise, the dated production just ruins it for me. The other tracks that I wholeheartedly enjoy from that album are "Spare Parts" and "Tougher Than The Rest". "Spare Parts" just rocks, and the pounding drums sound amazing on a

Worst. Cut for syndication in a Simpsons episode. Ever.

I love 'em all, but if I had to choose only one it would probably be the studio version with the restored "wine and roses" bridge. And the Cowboy Junkies version, which is based on the original VU version from 1969: The Velvet Underground Live (AKA "the butt album") is a damn fine cover, too.

Cue "Jimmy James" by the Beastie Boys.

Same goes for Tunnel Of Love: a great set of songs, with most of them ruined in some way by gated reverb and other terrible 80's production touches. The synthesized "wedding bells" on "Walk Like A Man" in particular make me cringe every time.

Speaking of "Superstition" and superior live versions, that reminds me:

Same here. My first copy of Station to Station was the Rykodisc version that had this and "Word On A Wing" as bonus tracks (back before the entire concert was released with the deluxe reissue a few years back) and I played the live version way more often than the studio one.

Been waiting over half my life now for so many of those great SST albums to get the deluxe-remaster-and-reissue treatment, but even if Greg Ginn finally does let them out of his greedy clutches I wonder to what extent some of those albums that Spot "produced" can even be remastered, as they were so poorly recorded to

That entire album is incredible. Joy Division must have been great to see live. I also like this version of "Transmission":
