I think the broader point is that new tech is best introduced on luxury items that can bear the cost of recouping R&D. That amortizes the cost so it can start being produced cheaper and cheaper.

The amount of waste we create at my sign shop is insane. And a good portion of it is perfectly recyclable, the boss just won’t pay for recycling pick up.
