My girlfriend judges cars primarily by their seats. She loves my S60R and told me, after bringing home its garage-mate M3 beaming and fresh from delivery that “this car has uncomfortable seats.” Therefore I’ll let you guess which she prefers...

This is so perfect. Every time I drive my low cars and then switch to my girlfriend’s CX-5 I rationalize how, while I’m suddenly extremely comfortable, I’d be annoyed with body roll if I just drove that every day. Right?!

We never had an automatic in my family until I left for college. Both parents drive stick. It’s a blissful way to grow up.

I came close to buying an ATS-V but ended up with my M3 competition instead. The ATS was a fantastic handler and I loved driving it. The deal was compelling too — a big discount to the BMW. I know this sounds petty but the interior and gauges just did it in for me. Spending what (to me) was a lot didn’t compute with

    (1) Don’t leave anything in my car.

Couldn’t agree more. The kidneys are so iconic and this is just more of BMW’s long slide into volume and mediocrity. I’m never selling my E46...

I have zero problem with a genius billionaire gearhead who isn’t afraid to try bold solutions for our collective problems. The hyperloop would be a huge boon to the congested Northeast Corridor and, eventually, could bring radically inexpensive connectivity to rural areas with shrinking coverage by air travel. SpaceX

I can confirm this — namely with experience with the headline photo!

Couldn’t agree more. Lots of 90s cars (particularly Japanese ones) look great in red. It works with the smooth, rounded lines more than with today’s angularity.

    I have:
Michelin Super Sports on the M3 (F80)
Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 on the Dinan3 (E46)
Continental DWS on the S60R (P2)

My most practical car and tree chariot of choice: a Dinan3 E46 on coilovers. :)

    EXACTLY!

I’d say this is getting worse based on how much my BMW keys have increased in size. The new one (top) barely fits in non-hipster jeans without making me look like my...uh...shift knob is showing. That said — Volvo was really ahead of the times based on my R key which is also obscenely large so this has probably been a

Honestly BMW scoring higher than Honda and Acura surprises me BUT if BMW is more reliable and more fun than today’s Acura (wasn’t always the case) there’s even less of a reason to ever buy one.

I had that brochure. It was back when they still made the CL Type-S and the RSX not to mention that yellow beauty. Incidentally it was also when they were a real car company — one that sold things people like us wanted to buy! Now I get to enjoy the dubious benefits of over-engineered Germans who seem to have fitted

Ever driven an old integra? Not boring. I agree with you on the corolla though.

I generally have only disdain for crossovers. That said — my girlfriend’s Mazda CX-5 is fantastic to drive for what it is! Part of me really wants to throw on some coilovers or at the very least the wheels and tires from a Speed3 and see what it’s like. I drove it for a few hours when she was moving and even outpaced

That stings but is so true. I’m a long-suffering BMW enthusiast.

There really is just SOMETHING about how the S60R/V70R sit stock that floats my boat too...

Not quite my neighborhood as much as my Metro area but I saw this yesterday and parked my own S60R next to it. Amazingly rare car these days.
