I haven’t wanted a Japanese car for years and I’m LUSTING after this.

I’m late to the game but I think you missed one. I just picked this up — my first non-German car. It’s supposed to be a winter/daily so my M235i and Dinan 3 can be paperweights when the white stuff starts falling. Well under 10 grand with every service record since new, 300 horses, six speed manual, AWD, and Viking

This hits close to home. There were a few of these idiots at Katie’s today. Just waiting (sadly) for a great event to inevitably be shut down.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s a snooze at that price point. Hell, an M235i/M240i would probably have its way with this for $52k...

    Meh. 4.5 to 60 isn’t really M3 territory. Maybe M235/M240 or 335is territory. It’s also heavy...yawn.

I agree. Loved my two Mk6 GTIs. They were fun and not boy-racer ish. That said, even with an APR tune I always wished for more top end “I want to pass this truck NOW” power. Went to an M235i instead of a Golf R though. That car is VERY hard to catch flat-footed.

Thanks! I’m pretty smitten even though it’s my slowest BMW. I just moved and it was awesome to drive AND carried my bikes!

Done. My M235i needs a replacement. Calling my dealer tomorrow...

    Jensen Interceptor!

    E36 maybe, but not E46. Especially if it's not a Z06...

That was my favorite book as a child. Explains SO much now.

This sounds like the white “Dad Sneakers” of the car world.

One is an entrepreneur who has driven forward innovation in a way that no private or public company has been able to do in my lifetime.

My family never had a car with more than two doors or an automatic when I was growing up. I survived.

My dad bought one over some pricier options because of how well it drove. It DID remind me of my E46. Transmission shit itself and there’s an S60 R-Design with the Polestar tune now in its place and he’ll never buy a Mazda again after how they didn't handle the warranty.

That was amazing. Great story. I remember buying my first BMW after waiting and waiting until I had the job to pay for it. Best feeling ever and still not half as cool as your story. Thanks for sharing. :)

The cars are gorgeous but so is the photography. May be my favorite I've seen yet on Jalopnik!

Something about Mercedes drivers in Northern Virginia. Or maybe this one just had to replace the one she lost a few weeks ago...

This may be (or is) the best car tie-in ever. Thank you!

Wow. Never would have thought the two comparable. Isn't the S4 waaaayyy faster? I've driven quite a few and they seemed like more of a 335i or S60 T6-R competitor than a comp to the lethargic TLX.
