That’s great news. I know how often people here complain or post...uh... “constructive” criticism, but this site is my favorite and I'm very glad it exists and for the hard work you all do. Thanks again, Patrick!

It was definitely the last time BMW definitively owned the sport sedan space. It’s also the last gasp of old school analog BMWs and I happen to think its the best-looking 3 series (and I had an E30). Then again I may be biased and mine isn’t a sedan.
The old one was hugely under rated in power. Felt way quicker than those numbers suggested.
Ouch. Sorry to hear that. For better or worse, I'm used to that with the BMWs. That said, with the depreciation of the S60R, it is something I've thought about re: ownership.
Oh I have. :)
Not saying I WANT that, but Nissan has a history of disappointing us enthusiasts that way!
You could just buy a BMW 135i instead of that first one.
I want a hot rod Lincoln so badly. The new continental is okay, but big American cars should be low, wide, and HAVE A V8.
Love that but it would probably have a CVT.
Damn. Strange car but the combination of a European brunette and an F-104 is overwhelming all my judgement.
Came for this. Actually even a coupe version of my Dad’s Polestar S60 might make me re-think some of my BMW life choices...
Agreed on the Elmiraj. I’m a German car snob but an American and I’ll be damned if that Caddy doesn’t have the perfect blend of swagger and luxury. It’s so uniquely American and badass. It’s way more iconic (P-51 Mustang, Chris-Craft, etc.) than GM’s current vaguely ghetto-fabulous/Wal-Mart look.
Are those B&W speakers? If so a little less tasteless than I thought.
This definitely deserves COTD. So good.
So true. Great handling and pretty quick with the 220 bhp six.
Wish I could star this twice.
There were more than a few “don’t tell mom” moments and a lot of “shifting” from the passenger seat as a little kid. They’re honestly highlights of my childhood and proof, even as I got older, that my dad was a car guy and therefore cool.
If I have a kid s/he will drive something safe and European. Probably an older Volvo or Mercedes. Bonus points for wagons. When they grow up and learn what oversteer is they can have a BMW.
Those were the words of my father almost exactly. God bless you.
I’ve been struggling with this lately. While my M235i is by no means a high horsepower car, it’s still pretty fast — 4.3 to 60 and 12.9 in the quarter. I recently bought and Dinan-tuned an E46 325i wagon. It’s also on a rebuilt suspension and vastly upgraded wheels and tires. BUT it’s still relatively slow (about 200…
