    Makes sense! Thanks.

The surrounding architecture looks pretty awful to me!

Yes! I love these so so so much.

Did anyone else notice all the other performance cars just hanging around? A GTR goes by in the opening and it looks like there's at least an M5 behind the corvette and M3. Either this is some sort of fantasy land or there was a cars and coffee that prompted the corvette idiocy.

My ideal garage would have this and an E30 M3 in it.

This sequence is like watching that scene in Indiana Jones where all the Nazis melt...

Pure perfection out of the box. They get it right every other time. E46 was amazing too.

God I love that car. It's a Japanese E30 touring. Just so much fun to drive!

This is a great article. I really enjoy your stuff Tavarish — keep it coming please. You do all the projects I see on craigslist and wistfully ask "what if?"

I can't agree with you on 228i vs M235i. I have the latter but just spent a week in a loaner with the 2.0 turbo four (tire damage on hard-to-get Pilot Alpin PA4s). I was so happy to be back in my M235i after. The 4 cylinder just isn't as smooth, gutsy, or sonorous as the larger six. It sounds cheap and tinny, it

I like the way you think!

I've had two GTIs with it and agree. Love that engine.

I'd love that. I daily drive the RWD variant of one of the three listed above but am also a GTI guy. This would appeal and I would definitely cross shop it.

It really impressed me. To impress someone who drives my favorite modern BMW though — that's something! He (my dad) was going to order one but ended up coming across a Volvo Executive car with all the options he wanted. It only had 4,000 miles on it and that took the price from $50k down to $33k. Amazing deal. Keep

I just traded my GTI for a BMW 235. I looked at a V60 R but it didn't have a good transmission. The S4 didn't come in a wagon. This is exactly what I wanted but couldn't find. I would have absolutely short-listed this if it were out/real.

You missed the point. Yes, on a straight highway the Camry might be as quick but in any other conceivable category of performance it doesn't "give the BMW a run for its money." Those categories include handling and braking — clearly things that aren't huge priorities for the typical Camry driver.

Thanks! I think it's a pretty great package.

No worries. Your comments made so much sense. This guy has clearly never driven anything worthwhile. I've just finished with a '10 GTI and a '13 GTI with an APR tune and am now on an M235i.

My Dad has an S60 R-Design with the Polestar tune. I think it's a fantastically underrated sports sedan and I'm a BMW fanatic. It's an incredible balance of luxury and sportiness and while it's not as hardcore as the Germans (read S4) it's in many ways more well-rounded at a better price. I also much prefer it to the

But it IS a soccer mom vehicle. By definition.
