I'd say for turning on and off constantly and idling frequently EVs are more durable. A Prius even has great space in the hatch — probably almost as much as this dinosaur (just an example). They're already most of the cabs you see — so high mileage and constant use aren't huge issues. I stand by my point that 95% of

This is one of the best comments I've ever read on Jalopnik. You deserve major props for this one.

Just went through this albeit on a different BMW.

There is no good reason for most police departments to have this. I'm a "big-gov't" liberal and I still think this is a huge waste of money.

I absolutely love these cars. They are probably one of the most elegant designs of the last 20 years. My dad just picked up a new S60 R Design a week ago and I still wish it was this model.

There's more than a vague homoerotic vibe to this...

No. But the ATS doesn't compare to one. This is a more direct competitor. Also worth mentioning that BMWs naming system is pretty stupid.

Exactly my point! You said it better. Same exact driver demographic.

Totally agree. Love the streamlined soviet look!!

Strike Winnebagos and insert Corvettes and you'll have nailed your target demographic!

    I'll bet!

Congrats. Just picked up mine last week. Looked at the Caddy but didn't drive it (at a car show) and it certainly looked fantastic. Sedan's interior was a let-down though and damn if that M235i isn't fast and old-school BMW in handling! Definitely hard to pass up for anything!

Pretty, but not much bigger than an M235i and nowhere near the performance. I took a quick look at the Caddy and while pretty, the baby M was more compelling.

Not that it excuses it, but those Jettas are made in the US just for this market.

I've had two GTIs. If you maintain them well, my experience has been that you won't have a problem. That said, you have to follow the schedule and not cheap out on parts. Expensive to maintain, sure. Unreliable? Not any more.

Glad to see there are stereotypes still alive about both car manufacturers.

But the owner listed it — as in thought it was a selling point for his target audience.

My brand new M235i is sitting in the garage as I type this. 100x correct.

    why?

Say what you will about the weirdness of the German car scene (I'm a BMW and VW guy and yes, it exists) but this thing is SO corvette it hurts. The subdomain of paunchy white guys and bikini models says it all about corvette culture. Not at all unexpected to see this ad...
