I recognize the irony there. That said, you buy a VW/Audi expecting FWD or FWD-bias. There's nothing dishonest about that. Same with MINI being FWD.

I can't accept any part of what you're saying here — especially not as an enthusiast.
Well played sir!
Kill this before it multiplies!
I'd love to see them do a 5 series look — the kind of "hitman in a suit" look that the E39 pulled off so well.
Haha. I agree in theory...
I actually really liked the SS when I saw it in person. I think the form is handsome.
That's good to hear.
I'm still mad they're going to Mexican production. GTI isn't a volume car and I'm sure it wouldn't totally crush them to make it in Germany if they can do so with the Golf R.
Screw this. Bring the S3 hatch stateside.
Sigh. You do make sense.
Yes! So much sense!
Nissan's CVT can go and die. I hope you were being sarcastic like the guy who said rotaries sound bad.
I had a dealer being in a first-year R and didn't take it. Went for a GTI with APR instead. Worked out to the same price (Autobahn) and I've been happy. Sometimes I see the R though and get a curious thought about whether I made the right call.
Same. I liked the A3 and thought it felt a lot like my car, but I'll have a hard time giving up my sweet hatch. The S3 had quilted leather and sport seats like the S4 though and I was smitten with that interior. Now if they'd just make a hatch version I'll sign a pre-order...
I've had them as service loaners and while neither are bad, they're definitely (in my opinion) a step down in fit and finish from the precious generation of each. There's a lot more in terms of hard plastic in each and that really got me. The CC was much nicer inside than the standard Passat and my GTI was leagues…
I was all ready to refute you (I cross-shopped GTI with BMW and Audi and CPO Porsche) but I just love your sentiment so damn much!
I thought that way too.
This. ^^
Guess I should have been clearer. I like the S and RS cars and think they have all of the attributes you describe. I'm limited to one car by living in the city and love the dd/sportiness trade off.
