I love the inclusion of the GTI on this list. This and even "S" audis do look great in black because of red trim/badging. That said, about a year ago I traded my black GTI for a red one and couldn't be happier. Yes, you lose the contrast trim but the modern GTIs (as opposed to the Mk I) look better in red, imho.

I happen to like the 2.0T. It's flexible and tunable and proven. I have it in my GTI and like it way more than BMW's turbo four offerings.

I just finished complaining about the new WRX. This, however, makes me happy. It's just awesome. It's a V70R/Passat Wagon but all Japan-ified. Affordable, turbo, sport wagon that's SHOCKINGLY not ugly.

Haven't driven a Subaru 4 speed but I drove an Altima with Nissan's old 4 speed. When that sucker finally decides to kick down BAM! Powerrrr! Crude but fun.

I've heard that before and it is definitely a plus. Let's hope that stays the same in this version. Sounds like you have a pretty sweet impreza there by the way. I'm a wagon guy too which makes it all that much cooler.

I like previous WRX versions although the lack of refinement has kept them off my shopping list. Just not my style and when I was looking, the GTI gave up some handling sharpness to the WRX but blew it out of the water as far as refinement goes. It's a cheap car and it shows, IMHO.

CVT sucks. It's still ugly, and sets Focus ST times. Flame away, boys and girls but I'm not at all impressed.

I love Saabs and I love special red ones even more. Fuck reliability and that pesky I "can get X for $10k so this is bullshit." Nice price all day long. Turbo, red , hatchback Swedish goodness. Irrational want!
