Also Oakland!
Also Oakland!
I think this must be the case. I don’t think a 12 year old of normal stature (or even approaching normal) could survive at that weight. He’s probably endured years of malnutrition that stunted his growth.
Especially gauche considering it’s a fucking “etiquette podcast”. Seriously?
I agree with everything you said. I should have been more clear. I certainly think that there ARE extremists who can accurately be called Nazis; I just think that those words lose all context and meaning when we apply them to any politician or public figure with whom we disagree.
Yeah, the constant Hitler/Holocaust comparisons bug me. My grandparents were Holocaust survivors. Those terms refer to very specific terms. Much as I despise and am terrified by what’s happening, it doesn’t mean that these assholes are all Nazis.
Thank you for saying this. As someone who at first glance looks healthy but very much requires accomodations, I have a big problem with this. I shouldn’t have to walk farther and/or sit in a seat that is harder to get into and out of because some entitled prick with no limitations decided to take that seat. The…
I believe it. Sadly. We like to pat ourselves on the back for being this liberal bastion, but there’s a lot of covert (and overt) racism. As someone downthread said, “permissive is not progressive”.
Wtf? The first non English speaker he’s met? Smdh.
Yep, this. Exactly.
Ha, I like this! Of course it’s rarely the case that And the last parent who complained to me about their poor, innocent white kid is being picked on by the mean, coarse, poorly parented black kid. The last time this came up rhe woman’s kid was totally the instigator, not that she’ll ever believe that. And the kid’s…
I agree that there are definitely class issues at work. However, a lot of the time these parents are talking about kids that they don’t know well or at all. In those instances “flatlands” is most certainly shorthand for black/brown. And gentrification has completely changed the bay area. It’s a bummer.
I’m curious....do you think native SF residents are less racist or just more subtle in their racism?
Big YES to Alex Karpovsky!!!!
I understand that take. I did enjoy it, even if I didn’t think it was the strongest film. Eh, maybe I’m just old and bitter? They definitely had chemistry, but I still didn’t buy the relationship arc. I don’t need to see the totality of their courtship/relationship/breakup, but give me SOMETHING to work with.
Thank you. I don’t think anyone is planning any protest marches over “Hidden Fences”. People are making humurous (albeit irritated) comments because this is something that happens all the time and....it’s fucking frustrating, and yeah, kinda funny sometimes.
I saw La La Land today. My two friends ADORED it. I..don’t get it? What is there to love? Well, her clothes. I did love her wardrobe.
I saw it this afternoon with a couple friends. I almost never see movies in the theater, and when I do it’s almost always animated stuff with the kids. I was just excited to get out of the house.
I’m married to a handsome balding man and I heartily endorse this message.
Reminds me of that anchor who was interviewing Samuel L. Jackson and called him Lawrence Fishburne. Google it if you haven’t seen it. His response was pretty perfect
I’m truly sorry you have to deal with this bullshit.
