Time to import a Fiat Multipla

Land Cruiser FJ60. Classic, cool, retro-quirk, ultra reliable, maximum PNW outdoor meme-mobile.

So this thing came about 40 years *after* the Ford GPA (jeep). Ground breaking stuff. Have a read of “20,000 Miles South” for a great adventure with the GPA.

I can’t stand it when a used car for sale has brand new tires on it. It usually means I now have to deal with getting rid of the “new” tires and buying the tires I want. Unless it’s a screaming deal I’ll usually click past. Maybe it’s more of a truck thing with a larger variety of shapes and sizes.

Try a 507 in the wild. In its Black Forest stomping grounds no less. I nearly wrecked my rental car.

My first thought was of course it has Thornbirds. You know you’re in for some entertainment when you run across a guy with the king joke of offroad tires.

BJ74s with a removable top something like early 4runners are about as close as you can get. They are RHD and most come through Japan to Canada. Maybe you can luck out with a LHD from Europe or the Middle East which tend to show up in Florida, Texas or sometimes SoCal. The 13B-T is a big 3.4L 4cyl low-tech workhorse

At that year I’d rather jump to an early Tacoma with 3RZ (or the V6) and a 5spd.

I learned in Bosnia you may not turn after stopping for a red light. The officers were very nice about it and after walking back to the light to explain left me with a warning. Probably a good rule to follow at least throughout Eastern Europe.

Is the auto section of the manual 9.9 pages of dangers and warnings?

So if they had a spare in acceptable condition (just happened to be in the trunk), all good?

4. 100% compensated returns for unused tire chain.

You might enjoy a read of “Who Needs A Road?” and “20,000 Miles South”

Pretty much this or the Tacoma, which ever has the room and suits your needs the best. Buy for the (previous generation) 4.0L v6/auto or the V8 that the 4runner got. Great trucks, common, reliable.

Plot twist, it *is* a Land Cruiser. Lexus is the way that Toyota could sneak 120 and 150 series Land Cruiser Prados into the US.

Marlin Czajkowski and his crew are outstanding people. He is the only person I’ve met on the trail that deeply invests himself personally into the well-being of your vehicle. Coming across Marlin while he’s fixing someone else’s truck on the trail is a transformative experience. It’s no surprise the time he invests

Fix model numbers too! 328 is a 2.8L 3-series! Get Off My Lawn! ;)

It is a delicious few hours of complete immersion. Antithetic to US-based distraction-oriented viewing.

You need to head over to the youtubes and watch what happens when chain breaks under load. Glad the extra 10 folks directly in the path weren’t decapitated.

I think that exists already, minus the engine or suspension mods. You wouldn’t believe the variety of (what looked like) factory pimping Rangers get at least in Thailand, including the “FORD” front grille. A couple randoms I took a pic of Rangers and others (there were so many!)
