I don't think people were complaining about the art design (its rarely the culprit). It was the complete linear storyline, characters you didn't really invest in, and a story that didn't make much sense, and at the least didn't convey much actual drama so much as having some guy in a kilt loudly saying…

End of the day they just need to publish the definitive backstory collections more regularly and make them more available.
