I’ve been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to come up with the right “wearing your heart on your sleeve,” comparison.

This is the kind of thing ex-husbands do... not fathers.
Yeah, I gave up ages ago, to the point where I really only pop in on Jez like once every few days, because it eventually felt like spitting in the wind.
I think Ann Curry is an excellent journalist, but Oh My God, please not The View. I think she got shoddy treatment by the Today show folks, but also thought she was a terrible fit for that job in the first place. The View would be all of the things that were wrong about the Today show, but ONLY that. No actual…
Rosanne Connor was pretty politically progressive - pro-union, pro-choice, pro-LGBT, pro-feminist, etc. This is hardly a shock, given her own proclivities, but still disappointing. I don’t think I want to watch the degradation of that character because the woman who portrayed her has flipped her lid.
OMG, yes, but only if it stars someone the butt-hurt fanboy crowd would hate even more, like Lupita Nyong’o or Constance Wu. Someone to appeal to their inner misogynist AND inner racist.
If this were the UpsideDown we could at least hope for demagorgons to attack the weekly GOP caucus meetings.
It’s one of those films that at the time I found amazing and epic, and then after a few years, was more, “Meh,” about it. Like Forrest Gump or Sound of Music. The latter opinion always gets me side-eye from people but come on: that movie is like 15 hours long and only mildly interesting when Christopher Plummer is on…
Thank you, I knew I’d heard it before. But but before taking the time to Google it and figure out how, I decided to run out and file to trademark the phrase, “Kiss my grits.”(Because “Up your nose with a rubber hose,” was taken, apparently).
When I was 16 I worked at this Mom-n-Pop neighborhood market in my hometown. I was literally the only person who worked there who was NOT a member of the family that owned it. The owner’s son and nephew used to get inappropriate with me all the time, especially given that they were in their late 20's. I didn’t know…
Under “For What It’s Worth” for $1,000: I thought Kim Cattrall’s performance in the SatC series was great, though got way too campy at times - particularly as the series went on and her character became a break-out character.
Oh my god, Lace. Phoebe Cates in the made-for-TV movie* version uttering the line, “Which one of you bitches is my mother?” Perfection.
Her victims probably need help now, so I imagine her ability to be helpful here is outweighed by any sort of idea of a “tasteful” mourning period. Eagles of Death Metal has a loyal following, as I understand it, but I doubt they could make in a month’s worth of benefit concerts what Ariana Grande et al will in a…
If it wouldn’t get me incredibly strange looks from passers-by, I would totally make that my ring-tone.
As much as I love Titus, this season what struck me most was how amazing Ellie Kemper and Titus Burgess are together. It’s a solid cast all around - right down to the tiniest parts - but if they ever did an episode that was just the two of them talking to each other for 30 minutes straight, it would be my favorite…

It had this one, which is stuck in my head about...98% of the time:
I had literally never heard of this show until last fall when I read something about Tim Allen’s views on Trump and was trying to figure out in what cave they had to go spelunking to find his rotting corpse, because I thought he disappeared, other than his VO work on Toy Story. Cut to me Googling him and quickly…
When I was in college there was a guy on my floor who said he couldn’t sign up for a dorm community service project because his heart was “too big” and it was hard for him to recover. Which was a neat way of looking at it, because it not only got him off the hook for being selfish, but also turned it around on the…
I don’t control Jezebel’s decisions about what articles to link to at the bottom of their posts. Clearly I didn’t notice it was five years old when I posted, but it’s nice to see you’re still so good with people.
