It would be worth knowing exactly how they can do this, given how locked-down most phones are now. Especially with IOS’s walled-garden for example - I’m not sure you CAN remotely enable anything.

If you want the boring old monochrome bullshit most people seem to enjoy driving in, you have to pay to be bland. Move to Europe. We have high speed rail that’s (end-to-end) as fast as flying and you don’t have security theater, or any of this paranoid passenger bullshit on board.
