Most asshole-y way I got laid off once was from an office job where they had regular fire drills once every couple of months. During one of these drills, once everyone was outside the building, they just came took our badges and said we didn’t have jobs, and wouldn’t let us back in the building. They had rent-a-cops

How do you find their speed / reliability? I have PIA and on my desktops it takes about 30% of my bandwidth away and on my IOS devices it constantly disconnects - to the point where I’ve got it permanently turned off now because it became so unreliable that I’d end up with no data for hours without knowing it.

Ok 180kmh is a reasonable limit given current speed limits and driver “skills” but that’s not the point here.

I have so many questions......

Come to think of it, it would be much more reassuring if all nuclear powers had a No First Use policy we just didn’t have nuclear weapons.

I’m so excited I put a deposit on one just in case they ever actually make it.It’s only $1k and it’s refundable. I love the weirdo things they included like the rails that can be on the roof or on the bed, the pass-through with fold-downs that can be steps or seats, the fantastic (in my view) styling. I think Rivian’s

I’m not sure why VW do this. It was the same with the Scirocco and a bunch of other models in their lineup. They never brought them to the US. I’ve driven a T-roc on rental and instantly thought it would be at home and a big-seller over here.

There were repeat and shuffle buttons?

I just don’t see how they’ll magically get past those issues.”

I really loved what I saw of the Rivian vehicles at the auto show. I’m a little concerned now Amazon have gotten involved though.

“Honda is saying this is all definitely not because of Brexit”

You touched on it at the end there - driver training. That’s why it works in Germany and why it won’t work here. Drivers here are not very well trained, don’t understand lane discipline, and don’t have any experience driving at truly quick speeds. Couple that to the off-road course that is most freeways in the country

Something something something cars something.

Being a s/w engineer for a large, publicly-owned aerospace company, I can tell you I’m the last person who’s ever going to get in a self-driving car because I know the realities of investor-driven deadlines and how much s/w gets sent out untested as a result. Quarter-end results should not override software releases

I lived under the flightpath from Heathrow (in Reading) when it used to fly regularly. The overflight sound was amazing. Miss this aircraft. Stupid Continental Airlines and their sketchy maintenance ethics. If they hadn’t fucked up the engine repair on their DC-10, the debris wouldn’t have been on the runway, Concorde

I can’t tell if that was a genuine comment or not, but I’ll assume genuine. In F1, the difference between the qualifying times for the top 5 cars is normally in the region of 0.3 to 0.5 seconds.
14 seconds is an eternity. If you put an F1 and an Indy car in the same race with that delta, the Indy car would be lapped

I’m guessing Amazon are subbing to Warren for the oil, in which case it’s probably the same as ‘own-brand’ Autozone.

Because people are awful.
