Been there, blocked that. What’s fun is when the truck drivers get involved too then the cutter has zero chance. I’ve seen trucks straddle the hard shoulder to stop people driving past. Makes me laugh every time. Fuck lane cutters.

I’m betting the only people who buy the 64hp version are rental companies. Most private buyers would buy the 80hp version instead. Same gas-mileage, same co2 output, engine better rated for out-of-city driving. Or they’d go for the 80hp diesel.
If the saleman doesn’t have the authority to give me the final price, I’m not interested. Call me an idiot if you like, but I’ve bought my last four cars this way. It works, you get the price you want. It’s worked with low-end brands like Honda and high-end brands like Range Rover. Don’t ever, ever, ever pay the…

Don’t haggle. Do your homework, get a car pricing report, know the dealer holdbacks and incentives, then go in with a fixed price in mind. Tell them that’s what you’re willing to pay out-the-door / on-the-road. Make sure you’ve accounted for sales tax, dealer prep fees and registration fees.
The fastest way to help the social security system would be to lift the cap on social security contributions. It’s insane that it’s capped at $133k a year. That means anyone earning up to $133k is paying the same into social security as someone earning $100M a year. Remove that cap, and social security funding becomes…
Is it as bad as Alien Blackout? (which is basically Five Night’s at Freddy’s with Alien graphics and sound fx).
Can you do the pickup-in-Sweden thing? You’ll get a much better price than paying US dealer prices, plus a week in Sweden. The downside of course is you’ll need to wait for the car to be shipped to you. Bizarrely this is all done via your US dealer.
Thanks for the personal abuse. You’re a person of fine stature and astute knowledge, that you can determine my character without even knowing me. Also - way to revive an 8 year old topic. Congrats.
Makes me sad. It’s like living in a black and white movie driving around nowadays :(
They are 100% a thing.
Agreed that can be misleading, but the MSRP is only a guide for the highest price you should never pay for the vehicle. If any dealer even gets close to that number, walk out. Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. Play hardball. Be ready to leave if they don’t give you what you want. Remember every dealer gets manufacturer…
I believe there’s a bigger issue here in that more and more cars are available with level one and level two automation, but the dealerships don’t have any real education plans in place for people picking up their new cars.
I thought J1772 maxed out at 600v DC @ 400 amps (240kW)? Unless they’ve changed their limits, the SAE standards don’t allow for more than that which is why I assumed a proprietary connector. 350kW implies 1kV at 350 amps which is going to need liquid cooling in the cables isn’t it?
So Porsche are going to be the second company with a proprietary charging infrastructure?
In Switzerland you can buy a book with the addresses of every registered license plate on the road. Some cantons allow you to look them up online too - for example https://www.viacar.ch/eindex/login.aspx?kanton=ag
All LAPD chases will now be forcefully abandoned at 272 miles?
The cost of parking at Gatwick is crippling enough already. Valet parking doubly so. Valet parking by robot? Remortgage your house before travelling.
Clarkson you idiot !
