My Suggestions
I said this on the original posting, but I would really really LOVE it if you chose The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. I love it so much and would love to have a discussion about it with you all.

Homer's scream made me laugh, and I don't have sound on my computer. That is how awesome Homer is at screaming.

Sadly I know what you're talking about, and I have to fully agree.

Incredible
He had some great stories. Great RR guys. I am a fan of the RRs done with character actors, preferably those by actors who have had long careers.

Pilgrim, here in Milwaukee we call it soda. I can't speak for the rest of WI.

The fact that the story doesn't ring true doesn't erase that horribe image from my brain.

Dan, I get what you're saying. I have never been able to get into Prince either, though I can appreciate the fact that he is a spectacle. My cousin lives and dies for him, and has given me many options for listening, but eh. Maybe it is like you say, that there is a point in your life when you either hear it and love

Yes, Bucky. You are correct. And Alfred H. liked her too.

That's funny; that was the first band I thought of when I read the title of the article. I HATED CCR when I was younger, but I really love the stuff now. I could never get past Forgerty's pronunciation. Now it's hilarious and necessary to the song. I mean, it just wouldn't be the same if Fogerty didn't sing it "I HOID

I like the Russian composers. Mussorsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, etc. They were very good at illustrating the terribly cold, hard winters that they had to live through.

I had the exact opposite reaction as Tasha when I heard Hazards of Love. I had only heard songs off The Crane Wife before, and I was curious by te "rock opera" thing Decemberists were going for. I put it on and it hooked me immediately. I have listened to it almost every day since I got it. I am now a Colin Meloy fan.

TomWaits, I see what you did there.

Not that anyone will see this now, but a number of local and national gangs have roots and current members in Appleton, WI, including Bloods, Latin Kings, and the Gangster Disciples.

well, you're wrong, teadoust. why are you here?

Is no one going to suggest Joe Piscopo? I guess it falls to me then.

That book is horrible and great-and so is the memoir Lucky.

I hate that they use the word "teach" for the word "lesson". There is already a word that means to learn something, Tyra. Don't use a verb as a noun and make everyone else use it too.

I'm going to hang here with the registered posters who can spell and have some knowledge of grammar.

Yeah I think there were more people there than when Summerfest is going on. That made me sad, as I am pretty sure you couldn't get corn dsogs for the Gokey concert.

Claire, I didn't know that, and I live in Milwaukee.
