When I hear something, I say something. Responding rationally here doesn’t mean that I tolerate racism, sexism, or jingoism when i see it in person. It just means that you and I disagree.

That’s exactly what I have been saying.

I am not normalizing. FFS, I was a Hillary supporter. All I have said is that we need to work together and find ways to win, and that in the service of that goal it is best that we drop divisive rhetoric.

Exactly. And it didn’t go to shit because of brown people, either. I’m pretty sure most of the CEOs who shipped their jobs overseas or replaced them with robots are wealthy and white - just like Trump.

I’m getting a lot of hostility (which, internet, of course) for stating what I think potential ways forward and beat case scenarios are. I don’t think that makes me an ass. I’m upset like all of you, but this is our new reality. I’m committed to dealing with it and fighting for a more inclusive government, and I don’t

With what exactly? Diversity of opinion?

I agree completely with you that everyone who voted for Trump is complicit in propagating the rape culture and xenophobia. That said, I don’t think its useful to end your analysis of what happened there because it stops you from developing a complete understanding of why he won. If you’re content to angrily dismiss

. They have lost jobs, they have lost income, they have lost social status, they have lost the feeling of being in the religious/racial/ethnic/moral majority.

Her. I’m a woman.

Last night I finished Cry, The Beloved Country, about the lead up to apartheid in South Africa. This passage really spoke to me, given the situation we find ourselves in globally:

I suggest we give up the racist, white supremacist, bigotry, homophobia routine the media fed us while trying to prop-up hillary. I mean we have seriously reached the “joke” level throwing evil sounding labels at people.

Agreed. Most of the passive-aggression tactics in this article were the type of things that got Trump elected. It only hardened the silent white majority’s feeling of being sidelined and not listened to by the “PC-Political” establishment.

He certainly should not be given a blank slate from the things that he has said, only he should be judged base on the policies he enacts and the changes he makes to the country.

A friend of mine on the day after the election stated that he planned on flossing his teeth first, because he couldn’t see any way that could be bad, and figuring out through next step after that.

This is a good plan.

While I understand people’s frustration with Trump being elected, they must realize that he won fairly and should be judged going forwards. People wanted a change and that is what they got.

Perhaps the sanest strategy I’ve heard- also, not a bad prescription for winning at life.

Continue to be try and better person every day. Help all people who need it, treat all people with respect. That’s my plan.

Obama has deported somewhere around 1.5 million undocumented immigrants over the past 8 years. This happens every day- as undocumented immigrants are let out of prison, they’re sent to a detention center. From there, bussed to the border and allowed to walk across. The only thing new about this is the beefed up
