This is the same argument people use when the beat, spank, berate, ridicule, and shame their children. We don’t need to make their live worse to teach them resilience. They already have bullies, bigotry, illnesses, injuries, and asshole adults for that. This whole BACK IN MY DAY stuff is, and always has been, nonsense.

NOICE!

I got a stress fracture taking a four hour dance class in 4 inch stilettos, so I’ve got some skin in this game, and I declare those are not heels.

Exactly. Either the PD are innocent and they’ll be exonerated, or they are guilty and they’ll be exonerated. This makes no sense. I’d say bring in the Feds, but that’s Trump, so there’s just no hope right now.

VSB continues to have the most thoughtful, insightful, and nuanced analyses of current events, and I am so grateful they exist.

I’m confused. This story, Felicity Huffman, and the like. Why are people surprised again? Haven’t rich people always bought their kids’ educations? Isn’t that why the top universities exist-to allow a couple of really brilliant poor kids to come, so they have cover for the 90% who just have rich parents.

Yup

There’s a string of recent reviews saying that this is a fake knock-off brush. I’ve been seeing these types of reviews lately on other products too. Are the REVIEWS the fakes?

So I am 100% accepting of your point of view. You don’t like labels for yourself? Don’t use them! I fully support you in your choice.

I’m asking that you do the same for me and others who find value in labels. Asking us to stop labeling ourselves is a way for non-queer people to get queer people to be quiet. Maybe

“Reading specific insults into general statements, especially on the internet, is a really good way to end up hurt all the time.

This is directed at me though, right?

As a gay man who has often been told I should stop labeling myself or being open about who I am so that the straight people around me feel less uncomfortable, I read “...the internet has definitely caused people to want to label themselves even more than they already did so they can fit in with whatever in groups are

Interestingly, I don’t owe you my story. You can choose to believe my truth, or you can refuse. What you can’t do it claim you have a live and let live attitude and then preach that people shouldn’t be choosing labels. You don’t have to choose a label. You also don’t need to marry someone of the same gender or have an

My label saved my life, so I’m going to have to disagree with you on its value

Discrimination and hatred are also reasons why we choose labels, because they help us find people like ourselves. If we want to have a live and let live attitude, then letting people choose and publicly affirm their own labels when they find that meaningful is part of that.

This is my favorite thing today. Thank you

My heart is breaking over this, and I’m so sorry the burden of doubly-marginalized folks like you is even heavier now. I just cannot comprehend how he could not see what harms this might bring. It truly breaks my heart.

“George Bush was good.” Really? I know a lot of gay men who would disagree. Well, fewer than there should be, since so many of us died from AIDS that was soundly ignored by good ol’ HW. Fuck him and his memory. I’ll remember my fallen family instead
