Carry an epirb, it takes the search out of “search and rescue”. I know that technically they are for maritime only use, but that is an argument you can have later when you have not been eaten by a gator.

How does that boot taste?

Pedestrian bridges are designed for 90lbs per square foot. They can easily be overloaded by people wanting to view a free F1 race.

Every race track I have ever been to has blocked visual access from the bridges - they don’t want people hanging out on there and overloading the bridge.  This is just a story about people in LV who have never been to a race track and don’t understand why this is done.

Right, if the bridges are open for viewing the race, they’re going to be packed like a sardine can for possibly days beforehand.

The bridge is actually 4(?) bridges on that intersection that connect all 4 corners of the Strip in that part. Since the track will be closed, the bridge has to stay open if you want people to cross the streets. The other footbridge is at Caesars and that’s fucking far as shit.

I’ve been on those bridges on a holiday weekend, they’re packed.  They were put in to get rid of the pedestrian crossings and help with traffic on the Strip.  Personally, I think it is just LVPD not wanting people camped on them or staking out spots for a week prior to the race and also keeping the foot traffic moving

This would make more sense--happens for all kinds of events in all kinds of cities.  Marathons come to mind in terms of road & bridge closures.

Because it being unblocked does not prohibit the actual event from taking place. It’s also a public thoroughfare, so you can’t just take that away from the people. I totally get it if one of the hotels owned it and they wanted to limit access, or sell it, but this is a public bridge. This is basically government doing

Mostly, I think this is BS messing with public infastructure to benefit the most wealthy people in the world. But editors note also has me wondering what the capacity of these bridges is & whether they would be at any risk of collapse if normal folks crowded on them to glimpse the race.

I mean, why can’t they just block pedestrian access to the bridges while the race is actively going on?  The bridges are closed for what, 2-3 hours?

I don’t know that I have ever rented a car without feeling like I got scammed or hit with some significant extra fee or cost. I try to avoid renting a car when I travel whenever possible, but not always possible.

I expect it from every company in every market these days.

Yeah, I don’t have enough hours in the day (nor enough up close vision) to read all the fine print on everything (without getting a headache), for big expensive things like a house or car I will read it all but ironically there is often far less wishy washy legalese bullshit crammed in those than for like website or

I had something similar when I came to pick up my pre-paid rental a day late. My flight was canceled due to weather, so I was picking up the rental exactly 24 hours later, had prepaid for 10 days of rental, and I called to tell them my flight was canceled and that I would be coming in a day later and was assured on

When I got my current job and started booking my own travel, I tried to save a buck for the company by using the second-tier rental agencies - Budget, Dollar, etc. And rapidly learned that it was not worth it at all - for just this sort of reason. They will do everything they can to “fee” you. Even with a damage

That is a slimy, dirty trick you’d expect from a payday loan company.

Exactly! ALWAYS get the receipt and look at it! Same goes for hotels. Or anything really.

Read and understand your contract. Every contract.

Ask for a printed receipt. All of them that I use can do it from their little booth, they just don’t like to since it’s like 2 people handling the entire airport fleet. I’m sure they can still pull things later on, but I assume it at least makes it harder to do so and gives you the option to argue on site versus X
